A tool for pulling the countersink into body gage sheet metal. Shown is a phillips flathead 3/8-16 machine screw, but a flathead allen works much better and is what I’m using now. Use a regular black oxide allen bolt & nut, stainless works, but quickly galls which creates quite a bit of friction.

The hole is countersunk with a standard 82 degree countersink.

One real advantage with this tool is a backup for an anvil is not required. It works with either the spring loaded captured Dzus button shown or the loose style.

The first photo shows the required components.

This photo shows the tool assembled, a typical captured Dzus button with plate and a countersunk hole for the Dzus. A couple of things here. The metal shown is 18 gage. 20 gage is normally used for hood sides on the A’s and Deuces.

Note too the countersunk hole in the body of the tool should be deep enough so the flathead allen bolt is flush with the top surface. This particular tool uses a 3/8-16 bolt and nut and is made from 1" diameter 6061 T6 aluminum stock and it works well.
