'40 Ford deluxe fenders same as standard passenger?

Pickup fenders are different where they attach to the cowl. They are not the same.

Thats rite- there is a bracket between cowl and fender about 1 inch wide at frt of cowl- also the fender opening is ever so slightly different and running boards mount holes vary a little too.

Wait a minute, are you stating differences between passenger and PU? Or between standard and deluxe pass?

Also, as I understand it, the differences in mounting tabs are so slight between passenger and PU that they are very easily interchangeable with very minor modifications, and no one can tell. Isn't this true?

One more thing--- when you say the "fender opening" is slightly different, are you talking about the wheelwell opening? Or something else?

Im putting a set on a 40 sed that are trucks and it is fitting poorly at cowl and running board plus the wheel opening measures a little more forward than a car[ on these] could be 41? they fit the grille and hood pretty close[ 40 deluxe grille /hood]

standard and commercial are the same deluxe differs i believe

Passenger car fenders, whether Standard or DeLuxe are the same. All the bolt holes are the same from the grille area to the running boards. The commercial fenders are definitely different, as the cowl on the trucks are distinct to themselves.

Well then-- next question I have is: What is involved in mounting passenger fenders on a PU? I can't find nice PU fenders, but there are a lot of nice passenger fenders out there for some reason. So what's involved?

I wondered this too, I've noticed a difference in front fenders on '39 deluxe and '40 deluxe. Some of my '40 buddies questioned this too. I didnt notice till I had mine on the road. Look at the lower curve paticularly the edge from under the bumper hole to the grill. the curve seems a little flatter on some. I've heard anything from different stamping locatins caused it, year design and bad repair work. Anyone else heard this?

40 standard and deluxe fenders are the same, the truck is very much different. The standard and deluxe hoods are different as well and the truck hood is huge in comparison. The deluxe grill and the louver side panels are the same width as the standard grill by itself.
