I know,I know... This isn't exactly traditional but I thought these pix would help someone out with a lakes modified lay out. This is my buddy Joes Zipper lakes modified before bed and after.

I say no bed is better... maybe a tank back there... or a turtle deck... just my opinion...

I think it looks better with the bed.

Yes, I too like it much better without the bed and the idea of a turtleback is a good idea. Looks better with the wheels on the first pic too. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now if he'd just git rid of the yellow stripe... that would make a BIG diference!

Turtle deck, but not a '26-27. Use a '25 and section-shorten it to about the length of that bed.
And ditto on getting rid of the yellow stripe. looks too "Tonka Toy" and not in a good way
(Put a gold leaf #5 on it instead!) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Lose the bed. I gotta perfect tank for it off an old combine. Ditch the 4 bars for split bones and keep the moon discs.... the jello stripe gots ta go....

Shed the street-rod paint scheme, keep the bed but add 6-8 inches to it with a rear bellypan and you'll have something that's well proportioned as well as interesting.
