Put the engine where it needs to be make mounts out of cardboard duplicate in steel pretty easy really

On the serious side put some thought into how your brackets mount to the chassis pick up both the top and bottom points of the chassis rail

Sounds kinda cheezy but I used a 4" length of heavy angle iron bolted straight to the engine mount holes on the block, and a short length of heavy 2" flat bar welded to that to come out horizontally.
The end of that sits on a round rubber engine mount that is, again, sat on a piece of heavy angle iron welded to the inside of the chassis rail. Sound awful, but it is all rounded off and smoothed and can hardly be seen inside the chassis.
This is not a god pic but shows the rounded end of the flat bar just peeking its snout out.
You can check out my quarter ellipticals and cozy exhaust too http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
