Is there any reasonable way to video the drags? Even if it is just a camera pointed at the strip. Something.
I am so excited about the whole event, and I am looking forward to duke-ing it out with Jeff and Kevin and Kerry and Jack and others, but I am already bummed I will miss others head-to-head matchups because I will be in the staging lanes or (heaven forbid) wrenchin' in the pits.
I mean sure- I dream about a full fledged production video with music and interviews and all that cool stuff (ala Mad Fab). But a bare bones raw footage of just the actual races would suffice too.
Any ideas?

I agree that a video would be cool. Can't believe that the ball has been dropped every year so far. I'd really rather have just raw footage, with sound, of the cars racing than music and edited. The Mad Fab stuff is great, but I'd like to see and hear all of the run.
What I think would be perfect would be two camera's filming the race. One at the start and one at the finish. Then "splice" them together.
Here's an old run of my car using inexpensive camera's that just happened to be at each end of the track. We found out they both had footage and Blake edited it together.

I really dig the two cameras thing, nice piece of video. The cars sound great. I didn't understand the "shit!" at the end though...
I would be MORE than happy to put up some cash for the production of a video.
Not having a video for the last coupla years has definately sucked.

This was a few years ago. Krupa was filming the end and I just beat him into the 13's.:)
The point being that this was super low tech and low budget. They didn't even know the other was at the other end. And I think it came out just fine with Blakes nice editing.
I'd chip in for somebody to record the runs. But I think Ryan could make some money if he had some camera's out there and sold "official" HAMB Drags DVD's.

Buzzard. Your car sounded killer on the big end.
I think the 2 camera deal is kick ass, well worth a bunch of us chipping in.
I think Ryan DESERVES to actually make make some cash on the Drags instead of working his ass off and barely breaking even.

After watching that video of yours again, I couldn't agree more.
I would be willing to chip in to help also.
So, to produce a simple video one needs (?):
A. start area camera
2. Finish line camera
III. People to "man" them.
D. Film editing, lots and lots of film editing.
That third one is the hard part I would think, because none of us is gonna want to sit behind the camera for the whole drags.
Maybe Ryan "Stay Tuned Fellas" Cochran has already got something in the works?

If all works out, Dad is planning on "TRYING" to video it. We would like to do some "in car stuff" from some different cars. Just a hodge podge of misc runs and parking lot footage. He bought a new digital camera but we probably won't have the manpower to see everything so maybe a co-op would work?
I don't know if you guys have seen the Jalopy Showdown DVD but it was 8k to produce and all most all of that was editing time on 18hrs of film. I would Love to do a HAMB Drags DVD but I would have to quit my day job to have the time. Maybe we could encourage everyone with a camera to film and collect the footage and divide it up between 3 or 4 volunteer editers to make a compolation....?
