I've used Rustoliem (sp?) spray paint if they have the color I want.
Otherwise, I buy Base Coat/ Clear Coat and shoot 'em.

At one time powder coating colors were only available in a small range.

The powder coater I use, now lists over 400.

Regular rattle can with a rattlecan enamel clear.
Its all in the preparation. Don't forget the etch primer.

I agree preparation is the key.If you can break them down have them sand blasted. You will be alot happier with the results.Be sure to paint them inside and out and use self ecthing primer.I used single stage dupont paint and its been on there for about 5 years.

I used VHT rattle-can engine paint and baked 'em in the oven. Still look good after a year.

had mine powder coated, did not stand up well to uv exposure.
cleaned and waxed them regularly, tried clear powder over that(yellowed on me),just had the powder burned off ,and about to paint with two part poly, and clear over that.
i am thinking this will hold up better,as it was my daily driver at the time.

I used that VHT engine paint for my wheels on the coupe but when I primered them I used black primer and it made them alittle darker the last set I painted for the truck I used a grey primer and a coat for silver before painting the red you can tell the difference there brighter.

I use that Rustoleum Hard Hat, or Industrial Paint whatever they call it now. Comes in a silver can with a pic of a hard hat on it.

I use Duplicolor, Chrysler Indusrial Red Engine paint(rattle can). I have used this on two roadsters that were driven alot. The paint is hard and stays shinny. Read the instructions, make all recoats within 1 hour(i use an egg timer) and then don't recoat for two days. Sam
