If you don't know how to weld, don't try this at home. Cut all the pieces and take em to a fab shop for welding. If you have a 110v welder and you think you know how to use it "pretty good", find someone else to weld them for you!

Here we go...

That's cleaner looking than most I've seen.
Are you changing the location of the inner pivot of the upper A arm up to compensate for the rise of the balljoint or just let the camber go way negative on bumps like most lowered cars do?

I agree with DrJ. You may have to raise the tower that the upper inner shaft goes through on the 49 -54 Chevys.
Nice job on the notching.

Now that's old school customizing! Looks plenty heavy-duty too.

That won't change the angle on the dangle.

That's what I was asking for a few days ago. Looks good. What's that arm out of? It's probably just me , but it looks like the arm is upside down in the last few pics, which stepping would raise th car, right? It's late, my eyes may be deceiving me. And, yeah, what happens camber wise when you step them? Would it be wise to trim a little extra off?

You don't need to do anything to the uppers.

Excellent tech post and pics.

A couple of friends of mine have used this method. It works great, it gives you lots of suspension travel like a dropped spindle. The part of the a arm (part with rubber snubber) that bottoms out on the frame is still the same distance from the frame as stock.

Off the two I know of, the eccentric shaft (used to do the camber alignment) was adjusted to keep the tire straight up and down.

Most don't shorten the A arm because you might run into the spring which is close to the gussets.

Nice one Jason.

A bit sparse on the text, but the good clear photos explain it quite well.

Sometimes you don't have to say sumpthin to say sumpthin.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Jason, you're alright for a hi-desert homo! The arms look awesome. When are you going to blow some minds on here with some uni-ball control arm tech? I would do it, but nobody here wants to see how to do them on a late-model full-size truck, LOL!

Use these instead of ball joints to avoid that pesky binding!

wait, all that rise is gonna throw the uppers way off and pull them inbound.. right? i dont see how it can be correct by leaving the uppers alone...

the only way i see it not having to do anything to the uppers is shorting the lowers in the process..
excuse me if i sound ignorant, but please ,more info!

why is the sky brown???

why does my lawn look like dirt??

If you want to come over, I can draw the suspension arcs on the shop floor and show you that'll work...

Or you could just belive me.

It works, I wouldn't tell you it would if it didn't.

okay, now you have to do a tech on using those johnny joints for ball joints!! I've seen them used in 4 links, but never in the front.

Had to resurect this one. Did anyone ever do the tech on using the uniball or johnnyjoint in place of a ball joint?

according to what ryan said the other day, if a pic is hosted elsewhere then when that other hosting goes away we lose the pix.

so the only way we're ever gonna see these again is if killer reposts them.
