If you are talking about 97's and 94's, powder coating won't work unless you like the look on the pot metal base of this fuel pump stand. The pot metal gives off gasses when heated to 400 deg. causing blisters The steel tube came out fine.

Eastwoods "almost chrome" looked pretty good on steel but it has to be clear coated to prevent oxidation. Their clear turned brown when applied the same way as the color powders. I got tired of playing with it.

In our processes at work we have found anything that needs "cleared" screws stuff up. Most of the clears tend to discolor the actual color. When the ovens get turned down it helps but only one brand worked "Everclear" it looks blue when being sprayed but works pretty good.
We avoid doing colors that need cleared like the plague.

Aluminum and other castings will sometimes produce the bubbles from the gasses also. You can lesson the bubbles by "out gassing" the parts by running them thru the oven first @ a temp about 50 degs. more than the powder cures at.
Hope this helps, Steve

The wheel on the right was powder coated "chrome". It was brighter before the clear was applied. I had two of them done....one came out fine and the other identical wheel had the tiny bubbles that were referred to. He blamed it on impurities in the porous aluminum such as oil, etc.
