Forgive me if I'm the last one to see this and it is old news but:

From dragracingonline.
Ryan will probably want to gouge his eyes out with pencils when he sees it because it refers to them as HAMBsters.
Brad
Brad, I hope he does not gouge his eyes out, I still refer to mine as a HAMBster. It's easier for me to say than HA/GR.
I really do not care what they call them, I'm still having fun with mine!!

Gentlemen, at least the article's author got the term's explanation right, the credit right and the rules outline on target as well. Hell, he even got the letter cases right.
Sounds to me like he's become a bit of a fan, if not yet a full convert.
Whether we like it or not, the HAMBster moniker (replete with its furry inference) will be a catchy one. It'll also be a door opener in tapping initial curiosity and drawing further interest in the class from outsiders. And that of course, is how growth occurs.
Hell, our whole team (yeah, the entire three of us) are guilty of calling'em HAMBsters too. It gets lay attention quickly and keeps'em long enough to explain. By then they're either interested or not but we at least got the chance.
Sorry gentlemen, I went and got a tad "preachy". OK, my points stand so I'll not labor'em.
Perhaps we should consider going with the flow and simply "adopting" it for the HA/GR class, in effect "stealing" it from the rest of the HAMB ?
Ryan, step AWAY from the pencils ............. :D

Wow, who would have thought our little class would hit the press like it's doing.
I sincerely hope that Ryan doesn't poke his eyes out, as whilst the term 'HAMBster' may not be esspecially desired, it certainly has assisted in getting our foot in the door, as people, for some reason, seem to find the term 'catchy'.
May I stress, that whilst the term 'HAMBster' is commonly accepted, we have, from day one, also pushed the HA/GR refference, to which, as previously discussed, tentitively accepted by our governing bodies, so please don't lose sight of the big picture.
Even though we don't get to race much, we are all excited about these cars, and we are doing our best to promote the HAMB, these new/old cars, and in principal, trying our best to 'Spread the Gospel' of traditional rods and kustoms. The fact that you guys, on the other side of the world are seeing what we're doing, in your press, illustrates that we're making progress.
We've got along way to go, but similarly, we're proud of what we've achieved.

Yeah, Simon Telford thinks they're pretty cool. He's the one that told me about them and now I'm looking to build one.

I just saw the article today. I think it's awesome, maybe it will spark some extra interest into the class state-side. As for the "HAMBster" moniker... I bet the A/FX guys hated the "Funny Car" moniker, but it's stuck for 40 years, get used to it.

Good point. Funny car just rolled off the tongue easier than A/FX.
Personally, wish that they had stayed with the early style altered wheelbase cars, they sure were a fun show.
