From personal observation, It gets you some first class content on the Jalopy Journal and the HAMB, some of the best forum software I've seen, ongoing service upgrades which seem to include servers, performance enhancements, storage, bandwidth and redundancy.
I put up a web site for my brother once, from a server in my home. Even that required constant attention and wasn't really cheap. I can only imagine the kind of cash outlay this operation requires. Before the Alliance, it was done on gratuity from auctions and direct contributions. Now Ryan has arranged some low key marketing for companies supporting the scene to loosen your purse strings (and mine). Ever heard that the best things in life are free? Well somebody lied. :)
Ryan, I just popped you a 50...
Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Yes, absolutely the best rodding content on the web. My knowledge of technology expenses does not span much beyond dell catalog or software prices at the local big box. I did not mean to imply that this is free, nor am I calling for an exact accounting or whatever. Just wondering more as to what goes on behind the scenes. I know it must be a ton of work and I appreciate what the administrators/moderators produce.
It supports my family and puts food on the table. :)
