Lads and lasses, name's Wayne, I'm 35 and I've got a 61 T-bird that's gonna be a tail-dragging ride when I finish it. Been into cars since I was a teen, been into customs since day one. I haven't had my bird for very long so the list mods that I've done is short. The car has been lowered 2", and I've put some glass packs on it (because I can't stand the sound of yuppie-Magnaflows). Plans call for stroking the original 390 with parts from a 410 Mercury and I bought a set of old Merc chrome valve covers for on it. I am in the process of assembling parts to build my own cross-ram intake for on it using an old Weber FI intake as the basis. It is kinda rough around the edges, but at least I can drive it and I don't have to worry about where I park it.
I know you guys don't usually respond to "the new guys", but can anyone lead me to a source for air cleaners similiar to the ones used on Strombergs? I need something that will fit inside a 2 1/2" neck. I'd prefer something with a finned top and they can't be any bigger than about 3" in diameter. Hell, I'd be happy if I could just find anything strange that I could use on the throttle bodies as air filters for that matter. Thanks.
