A friend of me is looking for good ideas to swap his stock taillights for more interesting units, like maybe 41-48 ford, or something like that. Any other idea is welcome, please post pics...thanks !

I remember seeing a 51-52 belair hardtop with Harley Davidson Thomstone shaped tailights installed. I kinda liked it. I've also seen 90s Caddy tailights frenched in. They seem a bit long to me.
Some guys go for the 54 Mercury tailights too.

How about 56 Chrysler taillights mounted low under 51 Merc quarter caps

I like 57-60 Vette lights at the top of the quarter... or that post yesterday had em frenched into the sides, 2 per side, that was kinda groovy too.

Actually a North Jersey shop called Enfield Auto Body did one how I mentioned with a 56 Chevy station wagon rear bumper. There is a front view of it in the book Barris Kustoms of the 1950's
It doesn't matter what you WANT to use. It only matters what you can FIND to use.
So, Why not make two cardboard patterns one horizontal amd one verticle of the area you will most likely put the lights and go to the next swap meet in your area and look for the guy with three folding tables covered with tail lights (he's at every swap meet, some times his twin is there too) and pick out a pair of lights that are in good shape and decide they are the "RIGHT" lights for the car. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

What kind of style ? Early fifties Kustom ? Sixties ? Late fifties ?.If he is building an Early fifties Kustom , then he would be right on track if he made a set of lenses to be fitted in the bumper-guards ..... My favorite http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
