O/T? Space frame info wanted

I'm looking for advice in designing a tubular space frame. Perhaps chrome-moly tubing. Heim joints everywhere. Something like a sand rail, but more like a late 50s sports car. Or even a formula car.

Are there any good rules of thumb for designing a space frame? When to gusset, when not to? Any guides on how to traingulate things?

Can anyone recommend a good website? Or a good book?
