Why buy a kit when you can make your own! Use a Geo starter solenoid. They are small, have enough pull to do most any latch and are reasonably cheap from a parts jobber. You'll have to fab your linkage and brackets but you aren't afraid of that...are you?

I"m trying to do this the quickest way. So what, 15 pounds should do it? or should i go ahead and get the 35 pounders? The kits aren't all that expensive on ebay so....

J,
geo or volkswagen noids are better than most shit you can buy by far and you can go pick one up at most any parts store. just don't go to Advance because they hate tattoed people. had a run in with a counter bitch at the local one on monday so i'm bitter with those fuckers. i go in there all the time(several times a week) and some new 50 year old counter bitch made some fucked up comment and i got his ass fired. i guess its back to the unemployment office for that fuck. anyhow i told ya go old school and just reach in thru the vent window. it's worked for me for a couple year now with the buick. you can always put 'em in later when the money is flowing a little more freely. you gonna have that thing painted and at good guys? looks like your makin good progress on it. did you get all your shit figured out on color and everything? don't know if your interested but i may be lookin at gettin some HOK white ice pearl for the scallops on the plymouth and i won't need the whole thing if your interested in splitin in on a jar. i wanna use it, but that shit is expensive and i'll probably just play some tricks with some flake. i'm killin myself hopin to get this thing ready by good guys. i dropping the rear today. should have that finished tommorrow and the top close to ready to paint by next monday hopefully. money is tight so i'll probably have to wait til the next monday to spray the roof. i need to sell some shit bad i guess i should put stuff up somewhere today and tommorow. anyhow get back to work on that poncho i wanna see it sprayed...ken....

suzuki swift/ chevy sprint are what i use. easy to find, have a 2 bolt mount built in, very strong pull and the end is shaped like the old vw solenoids.

I used 35# solenoids for mine and they have more than enough pull for any bear claw latch.

when is good guys? to be honest I never even considered going...ever. But maybe if i have a car to drive I'll think about it.I don't wanna do the vent window thing, I'm trying NOT to half-ass most of the stuff here, I gotta get katie practicing doing tuck&roll so we can do the door panels and I gotta do alot of re-routing of wires to clean the tangled mass out of the floor, get the heater hooked up, get heater control cables (i dunno about doing that shit), unclog the breather hose, put in the duel exhaust or patch up the old one for the time being, and get some new tires. So I doubt I"ll make it....Why ain't you found anyone to buy my ford yet lucky?

Put in a backup system too. You've heard the gold chainer stories of batteries going dead and you can't get into the car.
A simple cable going through the door jamb next to your speaker wires and into the front fender for backup.

What's the 1/4 vent trick? I'm going that route for simplicity and non electrical crap. Just key operated locks for the 1/4 vents...is there a nice tricky way to do it?

yeah I'm definately goign to have a emergency release cable, I've heard the stories. The vent window trick is what you just said, except without anything added.

the vent window trick is reaching in thru the vent window and pulling the inside handle. if your vent crank take out the mechanism and they just turn freely and you can reach in. if they just lock leave the drivers side unlocked so you can reach in and do the same...ken....

switch,
goodguys is oct.24-26 like a month from now. and yes i have a few people interested in your ford. i think bob the guy with the black bagged chevy wagon thats always at heavy rebel may be interested from what i'm told. i've got a couple people working on it, but no solid answers yet. i'll give the mutual contact between me and him a call tonught after work to see if he's heard anything...ken....
