I'm filling in my calander and need to know the date of the Hundert Car Pileup in Chicago. Missed it last year and I'm NOT going to miss it this year. Does anybody know?

After seeing Mad Fab, I'm thinking I need to get really drunk at an airport to squelch my fear of dying in a poorly maintained 600 mph tin can and GET MY ASS TO THAT SHOW!!!

You can't miss with a show that outgrows it's britches in two years.
Now, if we could just get the CHEATERS to NOT hold their SHOW on the same day as the HAMB DRAGS, all would be well in HOTRODVILLE...
C'mon guys... We love you very much, but it's so cruel to make us choose. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hey everyone...
We are in the process of making hotel arrangements right now.. we will have some announcements concerning details and bands and the whole deal real soon... we will put the new info on the website and announce it on the HAMB and other places too.
Its planned for the Grundy County Speedway, which gives us a good spot for cars and venders.. and if it rains.. we can easily move the vendors and some of the topless cars into a building.
We are setting up arrangements at local hotels for room rates, the hotels are 1/2 mile from the racetrack.
We are also making arrangements for a friday night pre-pileup party and a sat night post pile-up party at a local bar.. complete with bands and dj's.
Set up an account on the pileup message board to get more info..

some spammer went to the hosts mail server and got a list of all the domains and sends spam out as those domains.. its not coming from the pileup mail server.. i gurantee that. The thing about mail is that you dont actually have to be the domain to send mail from the domain.. which is how spam works. I actually have recieved mail on my yahoo account.. sent from a spambot.. from my pileup account.. its just one of those things you have to deal with.. like morons passing out "the world is gonna end ... are you ready" phamplets.
we have the email list setup.. which isnt used that much.. and the message board.. you should probably sign up on the message board.. its more active and definitly wont send you any emails :-)
We will make some announcements soon on arrangements and bands and stuff.
as always.. check the website for details

Its going to be held in Morris Illinois...at the Grundy County Speedway.
Morris Illinois (http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=M7tNO.p_0TqT&csz=morris+il&country= us&new=1&name=&qty=)
Historic Grundy County Speedway i might add, it used to be called the "Mazon Speed Bowl" my great uncle used to race midgets there... it has since been moved and expanded.. i believe it was the fastest 1/8 mile track in america back in the 40's.. the track was banked so high they had telephone poles holding the dirt up..walls were vert in some places..
lots of history... we were there the other day and they were showing us pics of all the nascar guys that raced there as kids.. all kinds of pics of 40's fords tearing it up :-)
They are having a "hall of fame" deal this year where they are going to have a big presentation and photo albums and stuff..
http://www.grundycountyspeedway.com/
Its a good safe spot for it, lots of parking and no chances of anyone getting hit from passing traffic.
besides that.. they got huge a pavillion with a stage :-)

Nope.. no one is allowed on the track.. i have a feeling i will be repeating this allot between now and october.. NO ONE IS ALLOWED ON THE TRACK. ... besides.. its asphalt now.. and bigger.. check out their website for pics of it.
We are using the facility... not the track
The insurance for track access would have costed about as much as my house did... i looked into it... No way in hell :-)
it would have been neat.. but in this crazy world of legal responsibilities and lawyers and getting sued.. we cant let anyone on the track.
I will be pissed if anone does wander out there... really pissed... like pissed off enough to punch the idiot who does pull it.... i havent punched anyone in a long time.. its not a pretty sight... anyway
its gonna be a good time .. i feel sorry for the yay-hoo's that dont make it.

the gate to the track will be locked, so you won't be able to get on the track at all and there won't be any reason for punching anyone!

Not to be confused with the type of midget racing the Cheaters do.

how about maybe a little slap ? ... or a hard shove? ... maybe a nudge or two?
Yeah sprint cars .. midgets.. i cant remeber what they called them back in the day... all i know is they went real real fast and flipped around about 30 times when they rolled.
I saw black and white pics of my great uncle launching up over the edge of the bowl flipping upside down about 20 feet off the top of the track.. so that was like 45 -50 feet above where he landed...
needless to say, my great aunt had a total cow...unc was fine he told me it was the "high point" of his racing days :-)
Good times :-)
I will try and get digital history pics of the track and cars and racers and put them on the pileup website...
