View Full Version : Fenton, who owns the name?

Does the company still exsist? Stovebolt sells the repop exhaust manifolds for the chevy 6 and a different company is doing the same for flatheads. Are these guy's paying to use the name? The reason I ask is that I have an opportunity to buy a nice set of fenton's that fit a 303-324 Olds, but they aren't cheap! I was kicking around the idea of getting some recast to help offset the cost. Is this a feasable plan or am I out to lunch? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Sounds like a good idea, even if you have to do a deal with Patricks or who ever, with the current interest in Rocket motors you could move a few sets I'm sure.

Depending on the price, I'd love a set!! What would you make them for? Early or later?@ Maybe earlier, so people could grind 'em out and fit the later ones, dunno.

I've always wondered why nobody re-poped these. Of course, now you know they'll be out in the next couple of months from "Mooneyes," http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif he he he...

Rocket, the idea sounds good till you add up the price of making a master (taking shrinkage into account) , core box (for the inner section) and a first run in a cast iron foundry... I've been casting metal as a hobby for a few years and if you want a quality product, it takes time, effort and a few $$$.

So the only thing being made right now is the exhaust manifolds? What does anyone know about the wheels made by Fenton? Anyone have some pictures of the wheels?

rocket88: i had a set a few years ago for my 42 project, but they would not clear the frame so i sold them. from the calls i got, i wish i had at least 6 sets to sell.must of sold them to cheap huh?. you had better grab them while you have the chance, as one does not run across them to often. don't tell peter where they are or he will buy them. he has the deep pockets to afford them??. ha, ha.i picked up another original edmunds { olds 2x2 type} air cleaner the
other day on ebay. some moron sanded it with 40 grit, so i have been wet sanding the scratch marks out. real fun.

heres a pic of a fenton "hawk" wheel. they also made plain ol slots, and other standard mag type wheels. the hawk is a steel rim actually welded to an aluminum center...don't ask me how they did it! actually this particular wheel is not a fenton, but they look the same. the fentons were a knock off of higher priced stuff i believe, the non-fenton wheels i have are definately higher quality than the genuine fenton ones.

Thanks ray, I keep hearing talk about the Fenton "Hustler" and "Shark" wheels but I never see them. I'm curious to know if they were mass produced or what. I find Fenton center caps all the time at swap meets but never see wheels. I know Fenton made other stuff like shifters and stuff so it all still has be be out there somewhere. Thanks again ray for the picture.

the wheels with alum centers are just weird i always thought.ive seen a set of them with alum centers, and looked like a tourqe thrust.someone must have made fenton slot wheels recently.i saw a set of brand new 13"ers at the junk yard.looked like they just came out of the box.i wouldnt think they would have made 13" with a clear coat back then.anyone have a pic of the fenton olds headers.ive seen them before i just need a reminder.did they make them for 394s?

Nah Bill, my pockets only have moths in them now, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Did you actually get that one Bill?! I'm not even dumb enough to sand something w/ 40 grit!

I actually got some nifty 303 headers for the olds a couple of months ago, still haven't looked at them yet, I thought I was going to be in washington when it was going to be delivered so I had it shipped there, but I missed it, so my dad's bringing it down this weekend, I'll take some pics and post em here for you's guys! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you need any help Jeff, let me know OK!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Patrick's knows something, because several years ago (12-15) I was at Patrick's and he was telling me that he found the patterns for the chevy sixes in Mexico, and that they distroyed all of the molds for Olds headers and a hugh stock-pile of the already made headers because of no sales. But he got there in time to get the ones he has.
Like I said thats been years ago , but I remember because it made me SICK

You, being an Olds fanatic, probably already know this, but the Fenton headers were only made in the early ('49-'53) small port style. I was lucky enough to find a pair, and plan to use them on my A coupe.

Never saw this thread before. My dad bought a parts car that had 15" fenton wheels on it. They are slotted. We didn't have a use for them, so he gave them to my buddy to put on his daily driver pickup. I could get some pictures if anyone's interested.
