Chiming in from the Rustbelt.

Hello everyone. I've found myself ending up in threads here many times while doing a search for information at search engines, so I figured it was time to sign on.

I am a Toolmaker living about 15 minutes west of Cleveland, Ohio. Been married 22 years this April 20th, with 3 kids, one of each. ;)

My first car was a 1968 Charger when I was 18 (going on 43 now) and I changed the engine in it before I ever even changed an alternator. I've been working on cars since and even went through auto tech school to be a mechanic at one time. Current projects now are my wife's 1966 Mustang coupe and my 1973 Australian Ford XB Falcon that I am building into a Mad Max Interceptor replica. There are links to websites for each car in my signature.

I've designed and machined custom parts for her Mustang, along with making changes like adding Granada spindles for front disc brakes, and I am currently making a power brake booster from a 1987 Mustang fit in and work with a custom master cylinder which will have a design machined into the cover and the whole thing polished by the time I am done. I'm also rebuilding the front suspension. I do all the work on these cars by myself, including building the engines and any welding or fabrication.

I'll end this here, it's getting too long already. I've looked around the board a lot and I believe I have a feel for the place. I am sure someone will let me know if I don't.

Wow, a couple guys right in my own backyard. My grandparents lived in Parma and my son lives there now.

I actually have a business making custom parts but I don't want to harp on that being new. After I get a hundred posts I'll talk more about it.

Well I believe I misunderstood this place. Though I don't own a car 1964 or before (1966 Mustang, 1973 Australian Ford Mad Max Interceptor project) I was expecting to be able to fit in here by offering information based on work I have done on cars all my life, my machining experience as a Toolmaker, welding all my life, and a few other things that I can give some insight on here and there.

In return I was hoping to be able to find or get info on some things I haven't done yet from other's here that have done them. There is a wealth of experience and knowledge here.

....this made me aware that knowledge about anything here is only good if it was gained by working on an even older vehicle. Though I respect the desire for only 1964 and older rods be talked here it flabbergasts me to believe that since I didn't weld on one of these cars, machine a part on or for one of these cars, or replace an axle or build an engine on a car of this vintage, that any information or advice I may have on these things is not welcomed.


I gave about 5 points to help someone possibly improve their MIG welding but I realize now I was in error to do this. My bad. I never welded on a car older than a '65 so I can't possibly be able to offer anything worhtwhile. 28 years welding experience doesn't mean anything.

I am a muscle car guy at heart, A car guy first and foremost, I take metal and create, Build it myself, That is what we do.

I like old rods and customs and have had some. I won't post a pic of my 68 Stang or start a thread about the best radial tire here. I find this site to be very entertaining! especially the guys that preach traditional and have no idea most times. The guys that were there usually set them straight.

If that 69 pick-up was black primer with red rims he would be a hero to most here! LOL

Give advice where you want and remember that people will always be people.
