Say Sodapopped Stude Snout three times fast! I recently added in a few different ideas with sodapop (photoshop) on the stude. I'm curious if any of these ideas grab you, or if you'd suggest something different. Thanks for any input http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like a gasser style...lose the bumper and keep the valance...smaller moon tank...then go ahead and do the blown hemi and a straight axle

I was thinking, for mine at least, about building a grill out of square stock that wrapped around similar to the stock grill, but didn't have that stupid cheezy painted piece on the sides. The opening could be smoothed out and the grill would wrap like normal, just straight on the body on the side instead of the painted black squares underneath. I don't think I described it very well. I just think the front end is so unique already, that improving the stock design would be much more original than doing something that has already been done to every other type of car. I do like #2 on the first set of pics, though.

58 packard hawk, or '51 Buick. Both make a nice clean front end.

51 Buick.
I'd like to put one in my Poncho but I doubt if I will find one over here

I like the chrome bullet idea, looks really bad ass
51 buick is the closest BUT wheres the 50's caddy grill with the big tittys? that would work the best... its similar to the style of the 51 buick.
it needs tits to be tits...

flip the bumper, add bullets and fill the open space at the bottom with 2 caddy bullets- or flip the bumper and put caddy bullets on the top corners of the inside

photo group 4, choice #2, the 56 Packard, looks the best IMHO. The style of the bumper fits/suits the style of the car.

I like the 51 buick idea, availability may be a problem. I think I would experiment more with the upside down bumper idea. Maybe combine that with a front roll pan?

Hey, thanks so far to the people that have given me some input on their choices or other ideas!
What do you think about the paint choices? If I remember correctly, It was originally an 'Army canvas tent' green.
I personally like the satin olive green with white pinstriping. Any sodapoppers out there wanna paint her?

I like the Packard Carribean parts on the Stude. I think I might hafta cut the top off and transplant a folding convertible top from a late model with tasteful chop. Go for the 56 Carribean tailights too.

i think leave the front bumper as is(i kinda like it in a strange way) and either do a tube grille with short tubes in the dip in the bumper. or keep the bumper and do mesh and drawer pulls. i think if you do the tube grille maybe use smaller tubing maybe 3/8 or 1/2 in square tubes. maybe even build it out of stainless tubing and polish it so you ain't gotta chrome it. building tube grilles is easy. mock one up in some steel tubes and if you like it either clean it up and send it to the platers or figure out what you would do diferently and build a new one outta stainless. i've been gonna finish the one i half ass started for the buick, but i've been busy with this damn plymouth for the last month or so and actually haven't touched the buick in about 6 weeks until i cranked it for the first time in a while on monday. anyhow these are just my opinions. i just think that bumper has enough character that you should work with it and not have to go diggin for parts...ken....

What about stickin some '50 buick teeth in there??
Also, if you decide to use a straight, plane bumper...a 53-54 would bolt right on and they look pretty good...the only problem I see with that though, is that the 53-54 bumpets peak in the middle, actually a 55 might work better...

Thanks to all of you for putting in your two cents. Theres alot of great ideas, I'm still playing with the tubing idea, just trying to come up with a cool pattern. I did get some time to mess with caddy bullets. whatdaya think?
