I did this the other night. After NHRA lost one of its brightest stars, I thought I would design a tribute shirt to give to the fuel racers, and the Force empire. In a perfect world, I will get them to the teams at next weekends race in Vegas.

Here's a marker rendering of a skinny Roth in the "Outlaw" when it was first known as "The Excaliber". The other two are of a halloween costume I made for my son about 13 years ago. He's 23 now and I can remember him saying "dad; a hot rod for a costume?" He felt like a real hero when he got all the cheers when we participated in Halloween parades. It's still hanging on the wall in my garage, so I guess you can say I made my own hot rod once! Even if it was made of foam-core-board.
It weighs about 4 lbs... Built light for speed!

04-05-2007, 06:53 PM
A small panel that is part of the stuff I am bringing to Dewey to pedal.
Back shot with gold glitter then shot again with purple. Interesting effect in the sun.
The other two are tat designs a young cat that works with my wife wanted me to work up. Would really like some feedback on these from those that do it for a living. I took a pic of his leg so I can do a lot more fo rhim to choose from. Just like some input, he is, after all, going to be wearing whatever he chooses for a long time. His name is already there, he wanted some striping around it.
Great show so far everyone.

Great show so far! Hey Bill Drake!Nice to see you posting again.
Here's a few things I don't think I've posted before but with my memory(or lack thereof)you never know.
A piece I picked up awhile ago at a secondhand store:A cooler with an AM/FM radio built into it.Either battery or house current. What everyone REALLY needs.
A couple of panels:one in progress;a thank you panel to the guy who donated the neat can opener/closer tools for the panel jam.
Another panel for Kris Johnson at Pinstriping and Kustom Graphics;a great new mag out of the UK.Just got my copy the other day.
A back window I just did for one of my regular customers for a lowrider Cadillac.Don't ask.
A couple of proposals for the junior dragster that is coming in the shop tomorrow.Still haven't decided which one I'm going with yet.

As always, great stuff again this week!
Mr. Norwell, thanks for sharing the history again! (that Grand Prix ad is one of my all-time favorites! -- or, if up North, "favourites"?:D )
Robin, awesome bike, and just killer work all around! Mr. Drake, great work! Coby, I love everything you do, and the trubute piece is no exception! (good to see you recovering nicely, as well!) Tingler, you RULE! Ryzart, as always, great to see your work... guiseart, that's incredible! Gary C., love your stuff, and that costume is cool!
I received my art from CAB this week (the mat should be here today, so I'm framin' and shippin' ASAP, sir!), and wanted to share it... pardon crappy pic.... box o' goodies arrived, and it was like Christmas at Easter... or something.... Anyway, it's killer!! Thank you, sir!

67DOHC-
you can link to another site to display larger pictures.
I tried linking to a site called photobucket and you drop the "site name and the file you download to their site" and drop it in the URL slot in manage attachments. but it still said my files were too large.
i know there is a way to do it but i have been successful yet.
the instructions are in the HAMB questions forum

I figured it out. Post images to something like Photobucket. Grab the URL, click on the little insert image icon in the message composer:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/hamb/editor/insertimage.gif; when it asks for the URL paste, and the image will appear. Just be sure to keep the image relatively small ~500 pixels at 72dpi. Hope this helps.

Thanks to Mr. Norwell for those great vintage ads. It's true that a lot of the great ad artists were never properly credited.
I acquired this set of posters the other day that were commissioned by Standox paints.I can find no crediting of the work on these either.A little out of the vein of the board, but neat nonetheless. They look almost like pinstripe art.

I'm usually just a lurker, but actually made it out to the buddy's studio this last weekend for a few hours. this one's a small, real quick oil "sketch" and this is a horrible, out-of-focus pic of it - which looks little like the actual painting... Nonetheless, I'm honored to be able to post with the likes of the rest of you.

While it's still Friday, I thought I'd post a couple more.
The yellow cycle is some of my computer art. Done in Illustrator and finished in Photoshop.
The line-art roadster is my version of a car that actually exists. There are probably a dozen or so of them as the original builder sold plans to build it back in the '50s. The small ad that's to the right appeared in the classified ads of a kit-car magazine in the early '80s. I called the fellow in Stockton,CA and he was a great guy. He was so pleased that someone called and remembered the "Wild Hare Special" that he sent me a free set of plans. I hope he's still with us. When I talked to him in the '80s he was well up in years. Automobiles evoke so many memories.

I finally got some ink on paper. It has been a month or so since I had time to draw.

Okay... these are on the OT side, but it's two art pieces i did awhile back that just got the okay from Powell skateboards to become new board graphics this summer!
One was inspired by Evel Knievel and the other from Planet of the Apes, two of my favorite subjects growing up in the 70's.
these are the second series of my own artwork available on skatedecks ...stoked:)

I did not draw the comics around the boarders, these were discontinued comics from the 70's i glued around my artwork to the wood canvas as a boarder.
