I would think an answer of some sort would be in order if you place an ad to sell something, say within a week ..........

I've been experiencing the exact opposite. Except it's on Craigslist.

I post a good add with a detailed description and pictures. I get emails everyday saying "very interested", and asking for my phone number.

I check my email several times a day and always politely respond with my phone number..... and that's the last I hear from them.

Hmmmmmmmm....maybe with almost 30,000 registered HAMBers, the ads move off the 1st page so quickly the sellers can't find their own ads? I really don't know.....just throwing ideas out there. I've not heard this complaint before and I appreciate knowing about it..
Maybe the sellers are just so damn rich they don't need the money?

It's a weekness. The for sale stuff done like a forum is not a very effective marketing model. It needs to be totally re-done, but then there's probably no one interested in the job...

it ain't hard to find your own ad.
go to "private messages" link at the upper rh of the page and then go to "subscriptions"
real tough.
if I can figger it out, anybody, and i mean anybody can figger it out...;)

Don't reply on the ad... Send a PM.

I'll say that if I'm selling a car and someone writes asking me to sell them just the side trim, or grille, or some other kind of car or part entirely... I just delete it.
No response in that case is the same as saying "fuck off"....

Were your inquiries 'off topic' or insultingly low-ball in price...?
Maybe that's the case...

...but, like I said...
Send a PM... don't reply on the ad.

Wow, I find buying stuff in the HAMB classifieds to be entirely too easy! With a much cooler selection of items for sale, I find the temptation much harder to resist than buying on ebay. I also like having a price right there, take it or leave it.

Only problem I've had so far was the "late '40s" Ford backing plates that turned out to be '52s..........and, so far, useless to me. Well, a couple of the "pretty nice" wide 5 wheels in the same deal are kinda questionable too.......................
