El Mosquito used a school bus seat, which I always thought was a pretty good idea. I've got buckets so I'm no help.

I used an '87 S-10 seat. Although it was narrowed about 7 inches in a '32 roadster once. It worked real well. I've heard Ranger seats work as well...Stitch

Do you remember the post about turning an early '50s GM truck seat into bucket seats? He could do the same thing but just narrow it enough to make a small bench for a Model A.

Rear seat from an early Ford Escort also works.
Anyone have a link to the cutdown early chevy seat thread.

I know this isn't a bench, but I've got what I think are early MG or something early import-ish. they fit tight together and look good in there.

Middle seat out of a Caravan/Voyager, works perfect. Exactly the right width. I know, I'm using one.

Great ideas guys. Don, he tried the Caravan thing and it measured too wide? Hmmm?

Skipstitch, I could use that article.

Those buckets fitted close together look like the front buckets out of my '93 Escort with the headrests removed and reupholstered.

Ditto on the Caravan middle seat. I'm using one and it fits just right. You don't even need tools to get it out of the junkyard carcass.

I'm with Donzie, I have a Dodge MiniVan center seat in my A Pickup. I did have to notch for the shifter though. My neighbor also used a Dodge MiniVan seat as a carcas and had it re-upholstered.

I think the caravan seat they are using is the third jump seat, a bit narrower, just pops right on out of there too.most arew like new and come in lots of velour(yuk) type colors

Most of this has been said, but the rear saet from an 80,s escort will work and is kinda cool, cause it folds and with a little work this may give you some behind the seat storage area.On the down side, they are kinda a wimpy-thin seat, they could use some more padding. The middle caravan-voyager seat works good, you may need to shorten the mounting leg hieght, but the padding is good and they are comfortable.

I am in the same boat here, I plan on ditching my buckets in my A-sedan and installing a bench. I was told, and have seen pictures of a voyager van seat in an A, but it was the third seat.

Im using the originals in my 30 plymouth, but I took out some back seats in a corvair, their two piece, with easily workable brackets that i set in my 36 plymouth and they fit perfect.not sure how much wider it is from an A,but they look good.

Donzie

The middle seat from a Caravan is narrower because it's the one you have to step around to get to the back seat.

I used a Dodge mini van middle seat in a 34 Ford pickup. I think it measured 40". It was great. Take off the arm rest and bolt in. I had Fiero seats in originally, but the Dodge was more comfortable. The Model A is likely close to the truck interior dimensions. You may want to cut the frame down to give more leg room, if your tall.

Mazda MPV van centre seat. Fits great. Provides tilt and recline to back and comes with a adjustable track. Decided to use the track out of a Ford from the 80s as it gave a little more travel with finer adjustments and a slightly lower profile. Upholstery is even a good pattern with a roll around the sides and pleated sections in the seat and back. :D

I used the middle seat out of a Dodge minivan, it is narrow so you can get to the rear seat, fits in my 30 like it was made for it, had to build mounting .

Nope, sounds like it might be useful, there's so much of the HAMB that has disappeared.

Nope, sounds like it might be useful, there's so much of the HAMB that has disappeared.

Here it is.

JUNKYARD SEAT LIST
'87-'89 Ford Escort rear seat
Seat back width = 42"
Seat bottom width = 42"
Seat back thickness = 3.5"
(seat back folds forward)

'90 Dodge Caravan, middle seat?
Seat back width = 44.5"
Seat bottom width = 44.5"
Seat back thickness = 4.5"

'80s Isuzu Trooper
Seat back width = 48"
Seat bottom width = 48"
Seat back thickness = 3.5"

'84 Ford Ranger
Seat back width = 49"
Seat bottom width = 49"
Seat back thickness = 3.5"

'84 Toyota van middle seat
Seat back width = 34"
Seat bottom width = 36"
Seat back thickness = 4.5"

'91 Ford Festiva
Seat back width = 38"
Seat bottom width = 48" (odd shape is fitted to wheel wells)
Seat back thickness = 3.5"

'89 Ford Aerostar middle seat
Seat back width = 39"
Seat bottom width = 46" (odd shape)
Seat back thickness = 4.5"
'91 Chevy S10 pickup bench seat
Seat back width = 48"
Seat back width = 5.5"
Seat bottom width = 49.75"
Seat bottom thickness = 6"
The seat would bolt to a flat floor, with the frame the bottom cushon at highest point looks to be 9.5" high. Bottom cushon has two holes for seatbelts to pass through.

OK - Wrangler stuff (pretty small - maybe good for Model A)
Seat Back Width - 32.5"
Seat Back Height - 15.5" (from hinge)
Seat Back Thickness - 5"
Seat Bottom Width - 33.5"
Seat Bottom Thickness - 5" (at bolster)
Seat Bottom Depth - 15.5" (front to back)

Found one that mounts to the floor in a severely channeled 26-27 T ....90's Isuzu Amigo back seat.
SEAT BACK 39"x21"x3"
SEAT BOTTOM 39"x20.5"x8"
Seat folds forward and the "folded seat" folds forward again!

85-6 Dodge Colt Vista van rear (3rd) seat.
38 inches wide-21 inches deep.
integral retractable belts (center)
earlier ones don't have headrests
thin cushions and backrests
I used modified 80's Chev PU seat tracks on this one
splitback reclines and folds on cushion
