did everything how i saw and was told to, witht he freeze plug, valve, and hose going to the carb. But now I have a little oil dripping from the dipstick tube...I"m starting to have flashbacks from when the road draft tube was clogged up and oil sprayed all over one side on my engine compartment....this is just a little oil though, but I didn't get on the gas when I test drove it. I take it theres not enough ventilation now? Theres breathers in the valve covers too...what can i do? or do I just need to go try to pull the shit out and put the old tube back on?

I'm not entirely sure what you did.
What you NEED is:
Manifold vacuum to the crankcase (below the carb, or direct to the intake passages), through the PCV valve (you state you have this, but do check that the passage is clear to the crankcase, and the valve is operating);
A filtered vent to the crankcase, NOT close to the vacuum (usually this is on the other valve cover, though the early engines used the oil filler for the filtered intake, and the old road draft opening for the vacuum).
If there are ANY other openings, this arrangement will be compromised, possibly to the point of not working.
If you are pushing oil out, you have either too much blowby (run a leakdown test), or your vacuum source is not operating properly.
I'd say the vacuum is suspect.

ok I've got the pcv where the draft tube was, with a hose going into the base of the carb inbetween the mixture adjustment screws. Two Breathers (on valvecovers). THe pcv valve opened and closed fine when i put it on. No oil came out of the dipstick tube before i did this, besides when I first got the car and the draft tube was clogged up. How do go about doin' a leakdown test? The car does have a little bit of blowby, but nothing bad.

ok when I pull the pcv hose off the carb, should I be able to feel air or see anything coming out of it? I just did that and couldn't feel shit, but when I pull the breathers off you can feel the air coming out and see a little blowby. I gotta figure this out or put the old shit back on so i can try out my new mack brush!

When you pull the hose of the carb? Nothing at the hose....but the fitting on the carb should SUCK.

It's the obvious that gets overlooked.
Sometimes you are just too close to what's happening to really see it. Sometimes I just have to walk away and come back later.
Having fun yet??

ok i tried checking that but I can't tell if it's suckin' or not...it should be hooked to the base of the carb inbetween the adjustment screws right? theres only one other spot on the base of the carb it could fit and that where the brake vacuum is hooked up. Theres a spot at the top of the carb where i could probaly put it on, but that doesn't sound right to me. Dont' they go straight to the aircleaner on some cars?

Anything to the air cleaner would be for the vent side.

ok fuck it, i give up. it looks liek i have everything hooked up the way it's supposed to and it's still got the oil thing going on. more wasted cash, guess I'll put the old tube back on, if I can get the freeze plug out back out anyway...

yo' switch,
if ya' pull that hose off of the carb base with the engine running, and the engine doesn't begin to stumble and idle like crap, then it is prolly the wrong port.
yes,you can "tee" into the same line the brake booster hooks to,and no crankcase fumes should migrate to the booster cuz' of the check valve on the vacuum line to the boostet.
clear as mud?
don't give up on the pcv mod.
later.

no, nothing sputtered like i was expecting, but I thought i could feel soem suction, but it was hard to tell with the fan blowing all over me. There is a t on the base of the carb whre the brake booster hooks up, but someone crammed the second outlet full of some kinda epoxy to block it off I guess. Parts store closed at 5 so I'm out of luck for today....
