Did the kids build that in class??? If so, I'm very impressed!

The car was first built 14 years ago by students in the collision / refinish program, under the guidence of Dan, our refinish instructor. Dan is just finishing a year long rebuild / refit, again with lots of student involvment. (My class moulded the glass frontend into one a piece unit.) The motor was built by our auto machinest program. It's a 350 SBC (single 4 bbl) about 630 hp. It last ran in the 9.40's. We trimmed 300 lbs off the car, and went to a 4 link this year, and set the motor back 7" Hard to say, but we should be getting close to 8's this year.
Yeah, I know, It's a tuff job I've stumbled into http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nothing traditional about the car but the education sounds traditional to me!. In these times when even Votechs like yours are scrapping skilled labor programs in lieu of technology, something like this is refreshing.

Yeah, the car is great advertising for our program, and really gets the students motivated. I might be a little biased, but we have a great automotive program. They are getting harder to find all the time. High schools are dropping them left and right. I think that's a big mistake.

I have a soft spot for "round tailight" Camaros. (I've had 3)

If it was me, I'd ditch the lettering. ....but seeing as it is a tool for the program, it is appropriate.

Yep, programs that teach kids how to use their hands and their heads are a good thing. I think this country (whoever it was that was responsible) f*cked up when we decided we were gonna base our economy on technology/information.
