What HAMBers are going to Cayuga's 50th this weekend!!

What HAMBers are cruising down to Cayuga Dragway's 50th event in good old Fisherville Ont., this weekend? Should be a great weekend of old drag cars, hot rods, famous drivers and cold beers! Afew us lads are going down Friday for the opening and staying over for the Sat.fun too! If anyone is coming, we can make a time to meet and greet. Can't wait to blow off some winter dust off the old hot rod that weekend.

Sure wish I could attend...I raced there back in '64 thru '66 and have a lot of memories from those fun days. I towed my racer from Oshawa almost every Saturday. I will be there in spirit. Have fun!!!Frank

Denise, Cayuga Drag way or as they call it today,Toronto Motor Sport Park is around 2.5 hours from Windsor.....for most of us.......but with that big block of yours and that aerodynamic pecked hood now, you could shave a .5 off the trip http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif........I'll send you some info on the weekend Denise so you can check it out..........and yes there will also be Super Chevy Show going on at the same time at the track.........but Fisherville which is around the corner will have all the old stuff and past racers from 1954 hanging their. Sorry, like a fool, I don't have a good photo of the car. It was a dark green '56 Chevy sedan delivery running in the C/MP (modified production) class. It had a 311 cu.in. (4.060" x 3") SBC, with cross ram Hollys, Isky LeGerra gear drive roller cam, Muncie 4 grab, 5.38 or 5.88 gear, Goodyear slicks (new at the time). I was a little guy, and was tickled pink to run consistant low to mid 12's, forty years ago. I fortunately won several "Street Eliminator" finals at Cayuga, and bravely ran at the NHRA Nationals in 1966. There where ONLY 53 cars in C/MP that year, and I made it through the third round of eliminations. Ah, the memories! Enough blabber! Have a beer for me at the reunion, and I'll have one here. Thanks for sharing those great memories Frank......as you described your 56 I could see it in my mind.....wow!....to bad you have no pic's of that beast!!.....Frank I'm hooking up with a Bob Tindale from Brantford, was a Piston Pusher and ran at the track around the same time I believe........he has a ton a pic's of drag cars from this time......ya never know he may have a shot of your 56!!........did your car have a certain name or writing on it?.......It be so KOOL to find a shot!.......I'll drop ya a update when I get back next week Frank.

BigA....no man check the site out.......this weekend is in Fisherville for the reunion. The June date is for racing at the track and this weekend the past drivers and their cars are gathering in Fisherville which is just down the road from the track. There is a Super Chevy Show on at the track this weekend but they didn't want to share it with the old timers or their cars, so that's way their in Fisherville instead. Should be a good gathering of these past pioneer drag/hot rodders and their classic rides. I know some that still own what they raced in 56 which will be there on Fri. Frank.........the drag racing gods must have been listening........on Friday night at the Rrunion party they had this huge room set up stuffed with everything from tons of photo's, clothing, flame suits, mugs, lamps,etc.....I talked to this one gentleman in the room who had helped out setting everything up about maybe having a pic of that 56 chevy you raced all those years ago......with in sec's he took me over to a wall at the back of this room........and there in a 8x10 size was a photo of your 56!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif.......I quickly got a hold of the picture's owner and he agreed to send me a copy and I will send it on to you......WOW!!!.....where else but on the HAMB can one guy, hundred's of miles away, find a photo of a drag car that another guy owned and beable to pass on some fun memories in a photo not seen in 35 plus years!!.....blows my mine!!!........hope you like this photo Frank (Buford)
