I'm planning on leaving home early Wednesday morning and heading up I-75. The map I got from Mapquest is showing me north to Atlanta, then to I-20 west to 78, then to I-240 to I-55 to I-40 to I-540. Then it is to a secondary road, N71 for 80 miles and a few more turns, I'll be there.
I took part of this route coming back from Calif. last year and 95% of the way is interstate and the roads are pretty good.
As I will be pulling a trailer with the HA/GR on it, I need pretty decent roads.
I plan on making it to at least Jasper Ala. the first night, and then pulling in to the hotel Thursday afternoon.

REJ I'm planning on heading out on Thursday afternoon but if you twist my arm I might could play HOOKEY on Thursday and join the HAMB TRAIN from the southeast to my home state. I have made the trip hundreds of times and know the trip well!!! Give me a call and I would like to make a convoy work. I will say my shit will be on a trailer because I plan to seriously thrash it at MOKAN and it is easier to bring you own trailer than to hunt one when you tear your shit up.

REJ, I grew up not too far from MOKAN and moved to Atlanta in 1990. I have made the trip up there plobably at least 200 times (there and back) and have taken every path available. If you are concerned about the trip taking a tole on your ride on a trailer I would look at the path of going through St. Louis then across Missouri. I have taken the path across Arkansas and it is not pretty. It is nice if you are traveling the back roads but they have been trying to finish the roads from Birmingham to Memphis for as long as I have lived it Georgia!!!! It is an incomplete highway system and you go from four lane highway to two lane road to four lane highway at least a dozen times. Try that pulling a trailer. My son lived in Memphis for the last five years (untill he moved in with me this year) and every trip I took to see him was through Nashville! That is the path I will be taking in August. I can meet up with you on thursday if you want just get in touch with me.

Stewed, I will be pulling out on Wednesday from Tampa, Fla. I'll probably go the way you mentioned as I want to go to the swapmeet in Springfield on Friday.
I came down part of the road when I made the trip from Calif last June and it was decent. I know it is not like pulling on interstate. There is only 90+- miles difference in the two routes and it will be worth it to pull on interstate.
