I saw what he did on the RPU he's workin on and I think I am interested in goin that way on my 31 Roadster on 32 rails.
First let me say -I have solid subrails and a tubing structure from door to door behind seat so I AM NOT GONNA CHANNEL IT.
I was thinking of slicing frame at cowl and letting it down,there/then slice again just behind frt cross member as Bob did his-tilting it back down there.
See, I am not running a dropped axle either and I want to try to get it DOWN A LITLE by using that method instead of the channel.Any INPUT appreciated at this point.
I am just draggin out "the pile" and gettin started. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For those of us who aren't familiar with this, could you post a picture so we can see what you mean?

Kenny you know i don't know much about any of this but have been wanting to get down there and dig around in your shop for a while now. What's next week looking like for you? Also i have 300-400 of the old car magazines you loaned me a couple years ago still. It's time to return them as momma is tired of moving them http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif so you ready for them back or shall i hide them in the attic from her?And to anyone else that reads this sorry to hijack the post.

Any time Greg-Im there at shop 9-4 every day thru week.
Dave- I saw Bob's post a while back I'll try to post the pics he did.
I believe it was a boxed A or comercial frame,it was similar to a 32 but not as tall a side rail.

Its not my fault........
That axle is a stock 46-48 Ford. It has probably about a 2 inch drop from a stock 32 Ford axle.
The frame was a stock Model A that had been boxed. Model A frame rails are straight with no arch to them like a 32 has.
I pie cut the frame at the cowl and kicked it up about 7 degrees. Then I pie cut it right behind the front cross member and kicked it back down 7 degrees. It gave the frame a nice ach, and lowered it almost 5 inches.
I reinforced the boxing plates with some added plates so it should be strong.
Ideally it would be good to pie cut the frame before it is boxed, and then add the full boxing plates with the new shape of the frame. It would be strongest that way.
I also added a flat crossmember which lowered it another inch or two.
I think it worked out pretty cool.

Hey- I was wanting to do the same thing Bob-I was Joking in the TITLE!COME ON=you are kidding right?I blamed you for making me want to do the same! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I thought it was a DAMNED good idea that I would probably never thought of.anyway how much of a slice did you take at the cowl? You See-I havent even got my set of ASC 32rails set up as a perimeter frame yet......... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif SAY does anybody know if these are lighter than a stock frame?
seem kinda thin........ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm not mad I thought it was funny..... I truly am a bad influece.
I can't remember how much the pie cut was. It was whatever it took to kick it up the 7 degrees. I think it was about .75"
I think it would work well on a 32 frame. I want to build a highboy roadster that sit's SUPER low, and I'll cut up the frame to do so......
I played around with a yard stick to figure how much to slice it....
Good luck.
-Bob

I got the frame squared up on the "frame master"[a OLD one post lift with shimmed up 4"x4"square tubing crossmembers leveled and frame rails tacked to the 4x4's!.
gOT IT TRIANGULATED AS CLOSE AS I can do......also made a frt and rear spreader bars and bolted them in place.

The modification you are talking about sounds a lot like the new Deuce frame being sold by Hot Rods and Custom Stuff (Escondido, CA). Take a look at their ads to get some hints....

thanks for the tip-Ive seen theirs and I like this way better.
they cut or reshaped their rail in an rounded "arch" that looks kinda strange to me. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
