Just thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself, as I've been reading the H.A.M.B. for awhile now and thought it might be time to finally register a username of my own. My name is Erik and I'm from the heart of the rustbelt, good ol' Steel City USA...Pittsburgh, PA. I was guided here by my older brother Joe, who posts here occassionally under the name JoeyBsYc, and I must say he was right in describing this message board as "unlike any other hot rod/kustom site out there." The creativity and craftsmanship of some of the members of this site is only outdone by their sense of humor and unrelenting hot rod attitudes and overall lifestyle. When I read the Co Co Wheats thread about the sacrifices some make here in an effort to devote more fund towards rod building I nearly pi$$ed my pants. I don't have a hot rod of my own yet, but I'm workin' on it. I guess I'll have to give up some of the finer things, like hot meals and soap, and get down to what really counts, finding that just right piece of vintage tin to begin a rod project of my own. I really enjoy the Friday art show posts, and to show you guys even though I'm a bit of a youngster to many (I'm 27) I've been raised right and have been around hot rods and wrenches my whole life. Just to show I'm not playin'...here's the 8" tattoo I got on my right arm when I was 20, and a pic of the 1958 speed catalog page I took it from, which acts as a permanent reminder of the hot rod fraternity that I'd like to consider myself a part of. There's no turning back now. Thanks for havin' me guys. :D

Just a play on words...as they say someone who isn't necessarily a surgeon with their hands is "ham fisted" or "all thumbs" and while I'm not completely helpless, when comparing my skill level with that of many of the members here, I thought the name was a good fit. Here's a definition I found online.

Adj. 1. ham-fisted - not skillful in physical movement especially with the hands; "a bumbling mechanic"; "a bungling performance"; "ham-handed governmental interference"; "could scarcely empty a scuttle of ashes, so handless was the poor creature"- Mary H. Vorse

hey hows it going man...welcome...there are still cars to be found around here...even though most met there demise during the seventies in the salvage yards...it is steel city after all....i found a 32 chev sitting in a field not far from harmerville...steel city choppers owner has it now...alot of early restored cars sitting in garages also...keep looking you will find somethin' your into...talk to the old time hot rod guys if you can...i found my next project that way...good luck man
