I have 3 options to do this car,


they are

1. banjo rear, traditional ford running gear ('40 brakes)

2. current rear, 305/3spdod/350, 36 front

3. merc'78-280se independent with disc brakes,
has ford 5 lug.
engine choices above.(hold your breath guys)



somehow I've been able to obtain a ton of crap
#1/2 are fairly simple to finish,
but #3 seems like good practice.

(I think people with $$ to blow like streetrodder ads...)

Looks like it will be pretty bitchin. I agree with Sam, bob that back end. That's one of the problems with trying to run a 35-36 fenderless is that back area is so much larger than say a Deuce or a 34. I'd take about 8-10" out and keep the swooping beltline. As for engine, I would vote #1. I've got a Volare IFS in my '36 and if I had it to do all over again, I'd have the dropped axle (but still with discs cause I'm running fenders).

I would go with option #2. Traditional enough to be cool, new enough to be sellable.

kinda reminds me of my coupe, I just trimmed all the rot off the bottom and capped it,

I trimmed about three inches off the bottom, twelve inches off the tail and raised the wheel wells about six..

Yeah, but he's not using the 36 grill or hood. If he bobs the rear panel, I think it will work. It's very cherry... I wanted it to make a roadster out of it. Technically, it's a '35 anyway.

that rear area is ripe for bobbin'
When the body is rollin' and raked right,
it will be obvious what it'll need.
(I like the reveal line but also square tail)


the straight axle front end is on there,
but the rearend issue is up in the air.
(I have a very traditional car right now,
and it would be fun to have a hwy-33/150 car)

what I probably will do,
is make the crossmember for the stock rear spring,
cause than I don't have to cut the '40 driveline stuff.

there is a guy around here,

he had a model a sport coupe back in the day,
killed a couple flatheads,
replaced it with a 4-pot 331 hemi,
with a '38 box.
stock model a rear axle!!

He had it since he was 16,
than had it in the forces,
drove back and forth to travis AFB?
and from there to frisco and east.

He said he only broke the rear end once,
in frisco,
going the wrong way down a one way.
pulled a brody..
saw the tire swerve back and forth,
(when you steer)
and drove it to a buddies house 5+ miles!

kinda cool story.

Was just searching for something and this old post came up.
Can't believe it was over 5 years ago!

Has anyone seen this old hunk of shit around?
As typical I ran out of money and had to sell it.
It was sold to a guy that worked for Exile choppers,
than he ebayed it a couple years ago.
It was running but not driving,
so it shouldn't of been too hard to get on the road.

Funny shit.
that car was like going to school,
(well it was first curvy bodied car anyway, not like a model a or t))
everything I learned or figured out wrong helped future projects.
Makes me want to get out the old 000 gas torch,
I loved that smell.
