I've been trying to get my Lokar shifter adjusted correctly on & off for a week or so. After taking the bitch almost completely apart today and following the direction exactly AGAIN, I think the problem is my trans.

It's a t-400 rebuild. The problem is that the shift lever on the trans has almost a quarter turn of play between gears. It'll click into neutral and I can move it back and forth almost a quarter turn each direction w/out clicking into other gears!!!

The Lokar set-up doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it, and I'm pretty sure this is why it has been IMPOSSIBLE to adjust correctly.

So...how do I fix this excessive play in the trans shift lever?

Is there some adjustment I can make w/out blowing the trans apart?
Why do I get to have ALL the FUN?

thanks.

drop the pan oof the trns and tighten the hold down nut on the inside end of the shift arm. you'll see it when you have the pan off.

David built that tranny for you right? I'm sure if you let himknow what is up he will look at it and make it right, though you would need to bring the car back down here again. Maybe when you come down to the station you could talk with him?
