Hey everybody,
I've been lurking here for well over a year and finally decided to register. I've been into cars since I was a kid. I can remember cleaning the ET 5-spokes on my dad's '39 Chev street rod back in the late 70's. I learned how to drive a manual trans in his '66 Nova SS that he bought new (and still has). I got my start with a '63 Nova SS in the late 80's when a buddy and I swapped in a V8 / th350 in place of the straight 6 / Powerglide. I sold that car to buy an engagement ring in the early 90's and hadn't had anything but late models until last spring when I bought a '61 Mercury Monterey. I couldn't afford much so what I ended up with is a 28,000 mile 4-door sedan in black with a really cool black and red interior in original and near perfect condition. It's got the 292 V8 with a 3 on the tree. I added dual exhaust, port-a-walls, and some hard to find uni-lug spiders my dad had laying around. I've lowered it via 1 cut coil in the front since the photos were taken. I may go with Astro Supremes and skinny whites this spring.
I have no fabrication skills but would love to learn. I'm just your basic office clown that can spin a wrench and digs traditional rods and customs. I envy the talent and craftsmanship of many on this board. Thanks for the great forum.
