This doesn't show any good details, but this is what I saw this morning at 2:00am right before I shut the lights off and walked upstairs.
Steering is officially solved. Late 30's Ford box flipped 90 deg with a simple bracket made from angle iron and 3/16" plate. Column drop is old school 50's hardware someone cut from 1/2" plate and chromed. (thanks Bruce)
Swapped '48 rear spring for an A spring. Went to the hardware store and found bronze bushings that adapted the later shackles that use the big rubber inserts to the smaller spring eye. I kept looking for the Ford script on the bushings - they were made to do this job.
Finished the hood sides. Stock A sides but I cut some pieces from the bottom to clear the frame rails from the channel plus the steering box and pitman arm. Found some rod in the scrap pile that matched the roll in the bottom of the hood and finished off the cut edges with it. Turned out way better than I expected.
Decided that blue is wrong so I have a new color in mind when I get to paint. It might not be the smartest choice considering the battered, dented body, but I can't picture any other color right now. You'll see.
I'm down to:
Brake lines.
Fuel lines.
Wiring.
Seats.
Drive shaft.
And some radiator issues.
I can add a windshield later and a large chunk of stainless will be my bellypan for now - no floor.
I know I'm forgetting things. Gaskets to put the flatty back together, seals for the torque tube pivot, etc. But you'll see it running at the HAMB drags.
