I think the Continental came out in 1811. It was introduced with a big glass of shut the hell up. Notice the key word " I N T R O D U C E D " ??

Hey Baldie,

Here is a quick history of the car...

Edsel Ford introduced the "Continental" as a one of a kind car for himself in 1940 as convertible only. As he drove it around people took notice of his ride, so since he was in charge of the Lincoln Division itself, he put it into production in 1940 as coupe and convertible. It had a V12 with 125 HP and was very popular and made until '42. After the war it was made from 46-48. This era was called the Mark I. The car was re-introduced in 1956-1957 as the Mark II, with a sticker price of $10,000. During this time Continental was actually its own division of Ford, not a Lincoln brand....the story goes on and on about the name of the car. If you would like more info, drop me a line.

No, The Zephr was first put on the market in 1936 as a 2 or 4 door sedan; the business coupe was added for 1937. It employed the same V12 that was to be used in the Connie. It was Ford's first unibody car, and it was introduced to compete with the Chrysler Airflow. It was also more of a "base" Lincoln to compete with the likes of Olds and Buick, the Larger, grander K and L Models battled Caddy.

Another note: The first major restyle DID come in 1939.
