hey whats going on, my name is derek I'm 20 and I'm from lancaster Pa. i have been into cars since i bought my 69 camaro, 2 years ago, now thats not traditional so i won't elaborate, but i got my friend into cars and he 22, he just bought a 58 delray 2 door coupe, post model. it was a texas car and the frame is great but the body needs a little work just the rear driver side quarter. the floor pans need replaced too. anyway we're having a ball tearing this thing apart but we were wondering if you guys knew of any good websites for parts. we're gonna do a two tone primer paint job on it, once the body is straightened out. and we want to beef up the straight six and the three on the tree. but aside from that we're gonna just let everything go for now we want to have it on the road by fall so we don't want to go to crazy. we were wondering too if the parts were mostly interchangable with impala parts cause i know of impala bobs and if they are we might be able to get parts from there. anyway thanks for your help.

Lots of stuff off other '58's interchange, including the front sheet metal off an Impala...I don't think glass will as the Imapala is a hardtop and yours is a post...bumpers will, engine/trans will, headlight trim will but Impalas taillights are their own animal...they won't...rear ends will and wheels tires as well as some dash stuff will...and if you find an Impala steering wheel cheap, grab it...it'll fit too!!!
BTW, the intro was decent...always need another youngster (or two) that's gotten into REAL cars on the HAMB...welcome to The House of HAMB!!!

rock on, we got the interior ripped out today and we're looking for more stuff to do before the body shop does the body and weld the pans in. we don't have a welder so we're going to have to farm some of the work out. but we're having a blast right now. thanks for the advice so far.

Need a hood?
The best way to beef up a straight six is to hang meat curtains from the back window.

Welcome aboard.
Lancaster- the hotbed of traditional rides- flat black but generally only one horsepower.
Don't need to hop up the 6 cylinder, just hang an orange triangle out back like the Amish.
Good luck with the project.

the del ( as we call it) is dark blue green on top and light green on the bottom. it has the original engine and trans. on the rear passenger side widow there are stickers one is an old sixties sticker of the twin towers so i think we'll keep it on (never forget!). car still has it's original x frame and the split driveshaft. i don't know whats up with the rear but there's this weird kind of a arm above it that is attached(some kind of rear locator i figured but i don't know) the dash is immaculate, it's awesome the gauges work and every thing but we need a drivers side brake light cause the one is busted. anyway gotta go so thers a little about it to munch on. we might have pictures soon for you guys to laugh at.

Nope not my old Delray, Mine was turquios untill a chick in a 70 something dodge back into the quarter while I was parked at a gas station. Then I painted it red.
God I loved that car. It was my first car, I worked my but off the summer between my soph, jr. year in High School to buy it. Drove it all over the rockies, move to Austin in it and toured with the band in it. Great car.

Have'nt met Lancaster Steve yet. 62 ss? I woulda noticed that. When did he hit town? I'll look for him.
Back when I had the Delray I was playing with a teenage rockabilly band called, of all things, the Shifters.
We we're all 19 years old.
I guess I'm best know for singing, playing rhythm guitar and writing songs for the rockabilly trio High Noon.
Welcome to the HAMB. I am originally from Lancaster County. If you ever went to any shows in the area, you may have seen my '58 or my dad's Merc (black with flames). He will be at the Vagabond's show at the Lancaster Health Campus on Memorial Day.
