I've used the vinyl paint a bunch of times and it works pretty well... on vinyl, and even on carpets. Is there a cloth paint? A way to paint cloth upholstery? Re-upholstering isn't an option at the moment.

Could you dab on some fabric dye and let it dry?

I just seem to be way more comfortable with a spray can in my hand. I have a feeling that if I try brushing-on dye I'm going to screw it up.
If I go the dye route, anyone have a brand they like? The last time I bought fabric dye was to do a t-shirt in high school.

There IS a rattle can type of cloth paint. I have seen it done a half dozen times - you better have a pretty fair looking interior though or it will just look like, well painted crappy fabric.
I forgot what the name of that stuff is though - I'll try to hunt it down..
It usually dries "crunchy" and then flakes off on your girlfriends white shorts and then you wish you had sprung for the J C Whitney seat covers that only cost $7.56 more than the five cans of spray shit you went thru.

Yeah yeah yeah, I suppose I could throw a Hudson's Bay blanket over the seat, but then again, it's way more fun brushing flaked paint off my girlfiend's ass.
Actually, the fabric and vinyl around the sides is all in good shape, but dull gray. I am going to hit the vinyl sides and back with black vinyl paint and the fabric part might look OK as it sits, but I'd like to see what my options are.
The door skins are the same thing, 6" of vinyl across the bottom, and the rest cloth (almost like velour actually... probably done in the boom boom 70's).

For the dye, I would suggest mixing it up in a spray bottle...like what household cleaners come in and "spritz" it onto the fabric.

Better yet, mix it in your ass and eat some beans. Fun AND practical. Not as accurate you might want but jeez what more do you want.
Seriously though, I know it sounds like crap but it looks ok for a temporary fix. 'Course this is coming from a guy who has no carpet and sits on mexican blankets......
