question #2 for the night....i cleaned off the left frame rail to try to read the number stamped there...i can;t really make it out...can anyone give me an example of how the numbers/letters might go and the amount or anything like that so i can try to decipher this to use to get a title...is this even the right number to be using?...

That's the correct place to get the VIN, mine had a star shape 1 letter, 7 numbers and then another star shape.

kustomkoupe - Star, then letter A, numbers, then a star. You don't mention what year your model A is. 28-29's were also stamped on the firewall. If you can get the numbers correct there is information to determine when your car was assembled. Keith

The number on the firewall is actually just the assembly date of the body. It was used only in late '28 thru '29. So not all '28s will have one. It is located in the lower left corner of the gas tank portion of the firewall. I really doubt you could find a DMV willing to accept this as a VIN. Also if interest is a number stamped on the first floor cross channel where the front of the drivers seat would be. It will have a letter or 2 and then numbers. The letters are the body assembly plant and the numbers are the number of that body style built at that plant. Example is TC888. TC is twin cites (Minneapolis/St.Paul) and if it was in a sedan it would be the 888th sedan body they made.
