I was once told that the only cool 4 door hotrod was a wagon. This just proved that person wrong.

I'm with Brian on that too.....to me, headlights are like eyes on your face.......I guess because cars have different personalities.
When I see a car with those Benz headlights, it looks like they are rolling there eyes up in the back of their head......

I would've agreed about the Mercedes headlights, until I saw that car...I think that looks REALLY cool. I've never seen them used that way, normally they just replace the stock headlights with them or try to mold them into the fender and it looks like shit. You couldn't get close to the same effect with sealed beams on that car.

Well, I didn't intend to turn this into a headlight debate...just the first thing I thought when I saw that picture. These headlights might work on some cars, but in this case ther are too many opposing angles to flow right. If the hood was pancaked, and the angle of the lights matched the angle of the a-pillars, and the car was a fastback, it might work...to me, headlights can "set the mood" for the entire car..for instance..
flush frenched - early barris custom, valley customs style
frenched w/'52 ford (or is it merc) rings - later custom, mild custom
deep frenched - '60s showcar custom
frenched with Hagan kit - streetrodder 1-800 custom
mercedes headlights - either a killer, one off creation or a goldchainer who saw it in a magazine and thought it was cool....
These are just my opinions..of which I have many on the right way to build a custom....not intending to criticize anyones work.... I just get so sick and tired of seeing so many cars that are just parts collections from many different eras, with no style or cohesiveness (or thought) to the overall package. I'll crawl back under my rock now....

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think they are Mercedes headlights. They lay back to far. Looks like VW New Beetle, or New MINI Cooper. Can't tell from the picture. Still look like shit. Those Mercedes headlights are $1500.00 a piece. I saw the black and flamed Packard last year, on I-70 in Kansas City Missouri. It was a long way from home. I was doing 70 plus and had a hard time catching it. The copper Buick has been done for awhile, gets driven hard, and still looks good. It's the best marriage of a late model top to an early model body I've seen. I think I saw it at a California show a few years ago.

this is still one of my favorite cars (I know it's not traditional) and in my humble opinion I think the headlights fit the theme of the rest of the car and look right at home. I haven't seen it done as well since.

Unfortunatly, I thaught I took alot more pics than i did. I only got nine shots, while my girlfriend shot 2 rolls, and wished she had brought more to shoot. Ina day or 2 she is going to get the film she shot put onto disk, and I will post more. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

fitzee,
The car had a great look and I looked it over good because I am starting an A. 2dr project. I hesitate to say this because I am not puting down the owner, the car itself or the style, but if you checked out the way the front end was cobbled together... it made me cringe thinking that it may be coming at me on the highway, (i do not know if it was driven to the show). I don't have any pics of the suspension but it was scary. My point is if your welding skills are not up to par farm it out. Your life could depend on it. Sorry if I stepped on anyones toes but it just takes one headline of "RAT ROD GOES OUT OF CONTROL AND KILLS FAMILY" to get the lawmakers right square on our backs. Build anyway, and any style you like, but build safe.
George has left the soapbox.

The 54 is Mike's. It is a two door sedan on eighties caprice chassis. The headlights on the buff primer chevy are VW beetle. It is a kool car to look at from the front. ALOT of people are trying to mimic SNIPER, but lacking the skills, money, or creativity. Overall the car is definitely kool, the buick front grille makes the car.
Chokehld, sorry I didn't meet you. The rain hampered alot of schmoozing.
A special thanx to THEM! TexASS boys who made it through the 40 days and 40 nites of rain to get there. I hope you had a safe trip back.
I had a great time as usual Mickey! Thanx for putting on such a great show.

The rain made me wonder how the turn out would be. But I guess it didnt make much of a diferance. When I left Tulsa in the morning, It was still raining a litle. Thankfully, it turned out to be a realy nice day.
I hope everyone had a good time, and made it home safe. I hope next year, I will have a car of my own up there.
I know one thing, I will definatly be posating alot of questions regarding tips on how to do things to the Plymouth, when I get it.

Thanks to Mick and all my Okie friends. I just got home
Mark X and I had no troubles on the return trip.
I will take a pic of the coolest trophy ever that Mick and
the rest of the AARP gang gave me, thanks again I'm not
used to being treated like a respectable citizen. I also
got to sit in line next to the Voodo Spyder that Elden
Titus built and was crusiing around with, he's a nice guy.

Hey Midnite Otto, I'm glad to see you guys made it back safely. Did you have any questionable stops? The Ford started to get really warm as I got into town, but I made it into the driveway before it got hot.
Aside from the shower cap weather on friday and the frigid weather saturday nite, Norma and I had a blast. I did have my "fiero" jacket and gloves to keep me warm while creampuff was doing his smokey burnouts. Monkey, got any pics???
Thanx again Mick, the SK500 shirt kicks ass.
FLT-BLK are you going to McPhail's shindig?
