Well, Mike (TOPDEADCENTER) and I were on this since about 11:00 this morning, and aside from a couple of interuptions, got the sedan slammed in about 4 hours.
We used the method CORN COB suggested, and just removed the crossmembers, leaving the sides of the sub-floor to bolt to the bottoms of the frame. It worked like a charm, and CORN COB... will you marry me? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The only two I ever did, didn't have floors to start with, so I would never have thought to do it this way. Like I said, I owe you, man.
I didn't take a before pic, with my camera, but here's what it was when I got it home, and before the frontend job I did.

Mike will have to post his "in progress" pics when he gets home, but here is what we ended up with.

Tomorrow, we're gonna but a higher arch spring in front, but I'm happier than shit with the way it turned out and the ease of the whole job.
My thanks to Mike for coming all this way to help me out.

Git a fuckin haircut! Deuce looks good. Now, we gotta get Corncob to buy another project since he's sold his 28 dodge coupe and his garage is empty except for a 500 caddy motor that usta be mine.

I just got a haircut, ROCK. But, maybe I'll do a HAMB fundraiser and get a CHEATERCARL flat top, if I can raise a grand. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
...and I'll give CORN COB a super deal on this one... It's for sale... at anytime during this build. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Junkyard,
Glad the channel went good. It was actually me, Corn FED, that suggested the method and not Corn COB. Guess there's just too many of us "Corn Holes" to keep track of http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Anyway it doesn't matter who suggested it, just that it worked well. I'd love to have that car, but I bet it'd cost more than I could afford. But just in case, PM me what you'd need for it. Good luck!

I believe a HAMB CHOP would be a fine idea. Probably in the next month, or so.
This morning, we threw the taller spring in, and swapped the grille shell for a chopped one. I know the front will drop when the engine goes in, but I have that all worked out.
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/junkyarddog32/TodayProfile.jpg
I like it better, now.
I think I'm going to try to bring the front of the body up just a bit, though. Maybe just an inch.
That photoCHOP is just what I'm shooting for with this car. I have a line on a 331 HEMI, too. Might have to squeeze it in.
Thanks again, Mike. Hope your drive went okay.

Very Cool Joe! It looks real good in that last photo, I'd leave it where it's at unless the weight of the engine really brings the front end down.

SHIT! CORN FED, I'm sorry. It was a long day. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Gee... I hope CORN COB doesn't take me up on that proposal http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
...and thanks BEATNIK.
I figure the engine will squat it down to where it sat with the first spring.
I like it where it sits, now, too. I like the parallel look of the bones and frame. That's why I might need the spacer. I'll have to wait and see, I guess.
Did I mention there's a 455 Buick Wildcat going in it?... I think.
I have a 400 SBC, too.
Guess I'll flip a coin. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

All in all it was a great weekend! Thanks for having me up Joe! How many guys can actually say that they have Channelled a Duece?
The funniest story of the weekend was when we were having a beer and pizza at the local drinking hole. We took Joe's coupe and parked it out front. Some twentysomething MAJORLY drunk guy walks up and asks Joe if that is his car out front. Joe says yeah. Drunk guy says "I've got a ...35 Ford at home." Joe and I both say "That's cool". Then the guy proceeds to show that he doesn't know a ford from a tractor. He (Drunk guy) points to the coupe and asks "So, what is that?" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif What is that? That is an F'ing DUECE http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
We laughed all the way back to Joe's house!

The pleasure was all mine. Thank you for the help.
Yer right. How many guys can say they cut one of these things up.
There is a sick sense of twisted satisfaction that goes along with it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Here's my dream for the future...
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/junkyarddog32/Primed.jpg
Only with bare black rims (maybe red oxide baby moons or some cool custom caps) and black roadster headers. Narrow whites (maybe blackwalls). Red oxide 'bones and front axle.
Red oxide primer. What can I say? I'm a child of the 60's.
PhotoCHOP away, boys.
Please...http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I should make it clear, that if it weren't for the HAMB, mike and I would never have done this. Hell, we never would have met. Up till Saturday, when my doorbell rang, I didn't know him.
So, even though it was just the two of us, it WAS a true HAMB SLAM.
For a couple of roobs, we done good, too. I think.
So thanks, again TOPDEADCENTER...
I owe ya... and like I said, c'mon back, anytime.
And I'm thankful for the HAMB too, for hooking me up with such cool people.

I will be back for the chopping party! But I think we need to get more people there for it.
