Hey all you Michigan Bitches...or anyone else for that matter....

Mike is gonna make my bug a personalized 1964 license plate....so I need to find plates with the newer style michigan lettering ( I believe they've been using the same style for quite a few years...it's the same style as what they're using now too) with the following letters -

S Q U I S H D

I don't need to hear your shit about how "gay" you think it's gonna be, etc. I know what I want. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks in advance http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i think the letters are the smae back to the 50s some time. it does'nt really matter just as long as all the letters are the same. i have a 64 plate already that will get the center cut out of it, then we will TIG weld and metal finish the new letters in their appropriate order and VIOLA! personalised plates from 1964!!

Mike:
I just went to the plate site I use to get pics for plates I paint. The Michigan plate is a 62(white with medium green letters)and has a 64 tab(dark olive with yellow numbers)attached to the upper right corner.I tried to download a pic but it isn't a jpeg but a bmp file.I'll try and scan it and post it for you.

If you can't find a Q just use an O and have mike use his newly learned panel beating skills (thank you Paul Beck) and pound the little curly thing into the metal. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Better yet just buy a personalized plate with the letters already stamped, cut out the name and weld it into the year plate of your choice. Clever, huh?

we had that thought but i don't know if you can just buy a custom plate without having it registered. if we have it registered then we can't register the classic plate with the same number. plus it's like $80 or something for a custom plate. tried to get "BEATER" for my 83 Chevy but someone got it in the past couple weeks. we checked a couple weeks ago and it was available but friday when i got plates it was'nt. oh well. i also could't get "HELLBNT" (or any other spelling of it), "LDIABLO", "DEVLMAN" or "HOSTILE" so i just got a regular plate.

How about welding in a smooth center to the plate. Then make a stencil out of cardboard with the letters you want. Spread BONDO over stencil and after it dries take off stencil and you have the name you want(plus a little fine tuning and sanding)

I've got 3 blue w/ white letter plates that will do everthing but 1 "S" and the "I".
