1953 Chevy 210...

Hey-
I found a 53 Chevy here locally.
It has the original 235 (70K)
54 powerglide rear end (highway gears)
lowering spindles/lowering blocks
It sounds pretty stock other wise
The car was taken down to bare metal and is currently in primer.
My question, Are there any things in particular that I should look at when checking out this car? Typical rust areas, etc.

Make sure the exhaust is free from potato obstruction. Also, if it's from Cicero, check trunk for decomposed bodies.

take a look at the rockers, floors and quarter panels. lift the carperts... most parts are available for them thou

Check the typical areas you'd expect...rocker panels, floors and trunk especially.

Also pay close attention to the frame, especially where it goes over the rear axle and where the trans crossmember meets the perimeter. Make sure it's SOLID, or adjust the price accordingly if it ain't.

Like any other car...try to see as much of it as you can...if you can get it on a hoist BEFORE you buy, that's the best way...if not, ramps and saftey stands will do. Look inside the wheel wells and everywhere you can get to!

In addition ot what's been mentioned, check the body mounts. They aren't being reproduced so you either have to make your own or find a car that has decent ones and cut them out.
