Tim and I decided to go to the West Point, Nebraska "Last Fling Til Sping" car show and swap meet yesterday... on the way home, it was early so we decided to take a few gravel county roads on the way back in search of old cars... Out in a pasture we spotted a couple cars, an old Galaxy 500, and other odds and ends... nothing spectactular. We decided to have a word with the farmer eyeing us as we slowly crept by his lot... Nuthing worth having there, but he directed us to an old abandon farm a couple miles away... "there's a few old cars up there I see when I'm hunting..." he says... "probably been there 50 years..." he says... so we're off...after a short drive we pull into this lot.

First thing spotted. late 40's Pontiac Super Eight. - Theres a tree laying on it, but surpisingly in good shape.

Next, '34 Ford 1ton truck. Beautiful sight. Cab is good grill, hood, headlights, bumpers... all in tact... Even had the triple oil cans mounted to the side of the cab...

Next, a decaying Model T, dual cowl touring body... just laying there... really rough, but still feeling like we struck gold... a few steps later found what was left of the chassis.

We're itching pretty good now from all the weeds and whatnot we're trampling through... as we round a final corner in the hodge podge of buildings...

There lies a 50 Ford 2dr Shoebox... last registerd in 66, and as if it had just been parked and forgotten about... The body on this car is perfect.

Now frantically excited and itching like mad men, Tim and I map our coordinates, and continue wayward home...

I can't remember what came next but a few stops later, poking around in farms that we probably shouldn't have... We stuble accross a old Ford pickup box and front running gear, converted into a trailer of sorts. There was an old ford wagon there as well, laying on it's roof. A biscayne, trashed. The cab of an old Chevy Viking truck, gutted. Misc. motors and blocks laying around... nuthing really salvagable but the truck box. Noted... lets move on.

We come on to a highway and just as we turn Tim spots another victim... "I see something back there..." Not really able to make out the vehicle from the road we waltz out on to the next chunk of private property to discover... a 4 dr Desoto... with complete flawless grill... and a firedome hemi... (yeah yesterday sucked.) Noted, with jaws dropped...

Nuthing much came about after that, but still a fun day of hunting...

After a few calls and research this morning, I got a number for the owner of the first farm, but no answer... I also got a hold of the guy who owns the lot where that Desoto lies... He says another guy owns the car, he's been offered $2500 within the last month, and turned it down.

Next weekend on the way to the Fremont Swap meet, I'm gonna take some pictures and post them... I'm excited to get a hold of the farmer who owns the first farm.

It was a good time, and I wouldn't have made that trip if Tim didn't mention the Car show... Thanks man...

Hey Dave! Sounds like you and Tim ran on to some neet finds. Another place to look near there on High way 32 just west of Tekamah there is an old guy that has a yard on both sides of thr road that has a lot of old trucks and pickups and a bunch of old army vechicles. I also know of some old stuff close to me. I'll talk to the ole farmer and get some pics some time. Bill
