Hey upchuck
Its a strong rear but geared 4.11 to 5.89 depending on the otion your truck got.

I used the stock 49, F-1 rear in my truck behind a '67, mustang 289, C-4. Mine was a 4.27 ratio and was wound out at about 60 mph. Worked great in town but was a bit unpleasant on the hiway. I eventually snapped a left axle shaft, replaced it and then took the teeth off the ring and pinion from an unintentional neutral drop. Oops!
The last F-100 truck I put together, I used a 66 Lincoln rear with 2.80 gears. Much better.
