a lost cause

Figure's I should get the introduction outta the way, so...
I'm Zach and just signed up here. Been stopping by HAMB to check it out once in a while, decided to sign up.
I drive a '58 Ford Custom 300, 223 six, dual out headers and glass packs. Makes for a pretty noisy machine in the city. Had it for about two years now and almost done gettin' the mechanicals solid. Since it's my daily driver and money's always short, fixes are far between, fingers stay crossed hoping that nothing else breaks before the next project is planned.
Body is pretty much stock with exception of a mild shave. It's kind of a odd looking car so I'm not 100% sure what'll do to it.

Hey a lost cause,
Welcome! This is the place to hangout. Great people!
BTW, '58 Fords are my all time favorites. I had a neighbor when I was a 'lil shorty that had a straight axled '58 like yours. It was tuff! I've loved them cars ever since.

Sweet car.The fifties Fords are hard to beat.Where the hell did you find headers for it. My friend 76ltd has a 59 Edsel Ranger with a 223 in it and couldn't find headers anywhere. Now that Ive gotten ahead of myself welcome. I'm a newbie to.

Thanks for the welcome.
Caveman- The headers are from Clifford (http://cliffordperformanceshop.com/site04/home.htm) . They're listed as "truck only" yet there is no difference in the engines so they'll bolt right up but...
They're really long. The number one primary sits about four inches from the ground (my car rides at stock height). I've bottomed out a few times and I'm afraid it won't take much more before blowing a hole through it. It'll need to be replaced at some point. The number six primary sits way to close the clutch linkage. The 4-5-6 set comes pretty far back under the fire wall making for a really tight turn before the cross member when doing a left side exit.
So you you can either order a set and fiddle or just make some custom ones. The primary's are 36" by 1.5". Each set (1-2-3 and 4-5-6) feed into 8" x 2.5" collectors.
Clifford also has cam regrinds, cam kits, intakes and weber carbs.
Oh, one more thing...
The Clifford headers won't work with the stock intake. You'll need to a bit of grinding on the intake manifold where the stock exhaust manifold meets. I did a pretty ghetto drawing of here. (http://fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5890)
