Shit! I saw him on some stupid show the other night on TLC or something. He has a couple of kill cars.

Anyone have pic.'s? Both are A's, I think. One had a freaky paisley interior.

He's always had some cool shit. Even bought his mom a killer caddy. My aunt used to live down the street from her in Massapequa, Long Island. He always drove something cool over there.

Ok, Looks Like I need to set the record straight(at scotts request). Either Brian Setzer or that strip-mining Yoshi at the Garage in Santa Monica really insulted the integrity of that beautiful triumph, or in hamb terms, added fuzzy dice to the hirohata merc or put mII ifs on the kookie kar.

That is the first Chopper(perhaps showbike is a better term) to come out of Scott Craig's Chopperville Custom Cycles(the same shop that built the multi-award winning Trumpster for the president of South Austin, Texas) 5 years ago. Long before everyone started to build unit powered rat triumph "bobbers"(I hate that term) I see them everywhere, just wish everyone would strive to meet the level of this bike. He built it for himself, then later traded it to Yoshi for a Panhead. When was the last time a triumph was traded for a Harley.

It is a shame to see that skull tailite next to that fat whitewall on that triumph. Just compare the bracket that holds the tailite to the hand fabricated fender strut and you will see what I mean. That blackwall rear tire was extremely rare. Kustomizer, sometimes whitewalls look good on a restoration or a nostalgia type bike, sometimes double pinstripe whitewalls look great on a chopper, but that tire belongs on a cushman scooter.

Look for an upcoming feature in the Horse of the original version. And call Chopperville If you want to give your beloved chrome steed the Cinderella treatment (818) 288-4029

Actually I have to disagree with ya Harpoon. With the white rubbers that were already on there (brake, kick, shifter) the wide white looks good. And I'll bet there are a few others out there that dig it. Comparing this bike to the Hirohata is kinda funny to me, it's nice but it isn't the definitive Triumph. No disrespect to your friend but he needs to get a grip if he's gonna get bent every time someone changes something on their bike. I've seen more than my share of things changed on stuff I built, it's not an icon so let it go.

I agree Zman....The whitewall works.....unfortunately, negative opinions are a waste of time, but quite prevalent around here.....

If you(negative opinion posters) don't like what someone has done to some precious piece of metal....buy it yourself and do what you want....or better yet...build something better...maybe some shop time will clear your head.

That Triumph is probably the koolest triumph I have ever seen...definitely my top 5.
I used to go sit there and drool at every detail when Yoshi had it at his shop.
They had it at the Santa Monica VonDutch store for a while too.
I remember seeing this one guy around venice all the time with a 58 belair years ago. It used to belong to brian setzer too. It was like a mild custom in flat black.

Here are some pix of some other bikes built by Scott Craig at Chopperville custom cycles, He's the one that built The triumph brian setzer has now. These are like early 60's period perfect show bikes.

I have talked several times to him because I have gone to shows and known the opening bands(Blast Off era) in the past and he spent a fair amount of time talking to a group of us at the guitar show in Dallas years ago. He was super nice and super cool. He really checked out my friends tats (full sleeves were not as common back then in all reality) and he and I talked about mercs and cars for quite a bit. I have really never heard anybody say anything bad about him and his personal line of Guitars is as awsome as his cars IMHO.

The other two Stray Cats were not jerks, and they would say hello and all to fans but Brian spent time talking to people. If your intrests crossed he would really talk to you. I have always respected that so I guess that means I am a groupy and I "heart" Brian Setzer LOL.

I really love that 32 5 window and his bikes. The green roadster I don't recall seeing before...any place to see more pics of it?

I have often thought he would make a good host for one of these new breed of car shows on TV. He would have been cooler than the guy from Bev Hills whatever number on that show the Choppers were on. He could have interacted with the people in those shows and probably done a good job. I find it odd how many of the stars on those shows only do voice overs. I wonder why? I would guess because maybe they are not car people?

Its funny how people idolize Hendrix for being an amazing guitar player. Setzer is really under appreciated in the mainstream. After a 25 year career, you would think America would embrace him, but I guess Japan has better taste. Brian Setzer makes Hendrix sound like a hack (maybe thats just because I dont care for hendrix msuic one bit).

Probably becouse Hendrix was dead 20 years before you were listening to music. Hendrix had no more popularity while he was alive than Brian does now. He only became famous after, and becouse of, his death. He never had a #1 hit. Brian has.

The same thing happens to me with Elvis. By the time I was old enough to apreaciate Elvis, he was a fat, old, freaky remnent of his self. But from what I hear, he had a pretty big impact in his day.

I guess it's where you come from.

Craig,

What you say is so true.
I saw the Stray Cats front row back in 1983, when they were at thier highest, popularity wise.
The show wasn't sold out.
Then again, when I was even younger I went to a few Sha Na Na concerts, and every single one of the old 50s stars when they were playing anywhere nearby.
Danny and the Juniors put on a good show for almost 12 peole who showed up...

I think Brian is as well known as he is now because of the rockabilly and hot rod crowd, but that will never be a mainstream crowd.
(Thank God!)
Enjoy and spread the faith.
I swear he plays twice as good as he did back then, and he was a pretty damn hot guitarist back then.

regards,
DJ

The reason is because Hendrix changed music forever. Innovation. Never been done before. Setzer re-defined a style that was already done. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather listen to Setzer all day long than listen to Hendrix, but you have to put things in perspective.

Bad Bob,
I know where the 51 Merc is now. It was sold in the 80's to a guy from Long Island, who died young as a result of an accident. His younger brother owns the car and the business they were partners in. The car has been put in storage for years and I'm not sure we will ever see it again. It may have been a famous movie car once, but to this guy it was his brother's car. I don't know if he would ever part with it.

I don't think it was a D'agostino car. It was Richard Zocchi's 57 Dodge.
