As most of you know steel prices are up. Scrap dealers and recyclers are paying for junk again. Here in rural Missouri folks are hauling their scrap in from the farms. For a couple of weeks now I have been taking a quick walk through a local "Sanford and Son" type business. Last week on my lunch break I spotted a complete flathead v8/trans combo, banjo rearend, wishbones, assorted farm machinery with some pretty cool brackets and handles and a late 70's Nova with subframe in tact. Old combines and corn pickers have some pretty neat gas tanks, radiator shells, ect. It was common practice in the past to use old car/truck chassis for farm wagons. A friend of mine found one with a 32' frame a couple years ago. I'm hoping. So, for the traditional enthusiast, it's a good time to locate some hard to find parts. There were numerous old refridgerators also-good time to find a classic shop fridge. I'm sure the old Buick, Olds and Poncho's will start showing up now that it's worth it to drag them in. Ya I'm cheap but resourceful. Just thought you'd like to know. Sam

My company is about two blocks away from another Sanford and Sons. I have never seen so many cars being scrapped. Every farmer and redneck in a three county area is cleaning out their front yard. I have noticed they have been storing the Keepers in a separate yard. Makes me feel alittle better about it. Its good, at least, to see the poor guys making a buck on the economy for a change. I have been keeping my eyes open for that keeper but problem with that is.. I only pass the place twice a day. Keep your eyes open guys!

Yeah I noticed the same. Scrap yard near my house, has a warehouse that I see some gems in the rough scurried into every so often. Guess their starting to realize there is even more money in restorations than scrapping.

Bullets cost money. Save all the cars you can. Ever seen the pics of the scrap drives during WWII? Even grown men will cry.
