You got to have pictures of the stuff your selling.
I won't even concider an item, if there arent any pictures.
Same goes for e-bay.

Especially the guy that you used as an example. He's been a registered member for over a year and has only got 15 posts, ALL of them on the for sale board. A couple of these have been closed by our beloved Rashy. This guy is really giving my neck of the woods a bad name.

If people can't see it, they most likely aren't gonna buy it. I think that's a pretty simple theory. This is a hot rod site, not a gambling site.

Yeah, I hate to be a douchebag and bitch about shit, but there's no reason to post something for sale without pictures. Seems like less and less people have enough time to snap a pic and post it with their ad, but they sure do have plenty of time to post BTT and "C'mon, I really need to sell this" at every opportunity.

The example emailed me and said he cannot post pictures with direct tv. WTF

Yup - several new members lately who apparently signed up for no other reason than to hock a bunch of cheesy crap.

I've been paying more attention since the mods asked everyone to help keep an eye on things, it's unreal how many folks ignore the rules, either out of ignorance or arrogance.

I just hate to see it get so fucked up that they get shut down.

And again, kudo's to the mods for staying on top of things.

What's he point? Most times the 2 or 3 pics really only show the seller has the item he's posting...I'd bet that most ask for additional pics anyway.

You gonna buy something with just seeing one or two pics?

I hate having to ask for pics... then they never send em to you.

A picture will show the condition of a part, and it will also confirm if the seller knows what he's selling. Lots of times, people have shit for sale and they think it's one thing when it's really another. Seeing a picture or two lets me know that I'm getting what I'm paying for.

There's no excuse for not posting pictures of items for sale. None. If you don't have access to a camera or you don't know how to post pics, you have no business selling shit on the internet.

I dunno I sold a Mallory ignition conversion without a pic a couple of weeks ago. Not lazy I just couldn't see the point in takeing a picture of a mallory package.

Granted it sold to a guy that I do business with and I'm pretty sure he figured I had it or I wouldn't have said I did.

It does irk me alot of times though when I look at the class adz and there are cars or projects for sale, big money and no pics. Sometimes I just like to know what a 5K project body only looks like.:D

Most of the time I try and get pics up just because I think folks should have some idea what they are buying. Once in awhile I post prematurely and the stuff gets bought before I snap a pic, but its usually someone I've done business with before and I guess they aren't worried about it or saw it when I couldn't live without it.:D

Today there was a gauge I might have been interested in but no pic. The way it was advertised I couldn't tell exactly what they were talking about. I trusted the guy had it and would ship it because I know hwo he is, just couldn't wrap my head around what he was talking about. No doubt someone will buy it before he gets the pic up and I never will know exactly what he was talking about.:D

Why don't the moderators state that if you are to sell on here that you must post a pic or 2 or note an email addy so the person that is selling, can send you pics of the item mentioned that is selling. Just a thought so the waters remain calm here on the board!!!!!!! KNUX!

A lot of times for me, it just depends on where I'm at and which camera I have with me. I have an old Mavica that takes pics using floppies. This works really well for the hamb, because I dont have to screw with them to post them. However, I also have a HIGH mp cam that we use for our "other" sites and if I use that, I have to screw with them forever to get them down to the hamb requirements on size.

With that being said, many items I do post pics of, I still get 50 guys IMing wanting more pics, and they are usually FNGs that really had no intentions of buying, they just like pics, I guess. Plus some things do you REALLY need a pic? A BONE stock motor out of a car that needs rebuilt. If you don't know what a greasy motor looks like, you are on the wrong board. I have no issues taking pics on stuff like that for serious buyers, but I'm not climbing over 3 cars, 200 pounds of pitbul turds, and black widows because you (you meaning anyone) wants a pic of a $5 set of stock Chevy heads. If that means you pass on buying it, I can live with that.

I actually PM'ed the one guy and offered to help post some pix in trade for one of his for sale items and have yet to hear back. I wonder if I pissed him off or offended him...

I tried to help.

One abbreviation. C.O.D.!
If you don't trust the seller make them send the product COD. Yes it costs a bit more BUT you get the opportunity to inspect the item BEFORE paying for it when the delivery driver shows up with it. Just because the driver is in a hurry, the ALWAYS ARE, doesn't mean you have to be. Open the box, inspect the item, THEN pay for it. That's what COD is for, among other things (Accounts payable aside.).
Just my 2¢

yea but who want's to go through that crap?? I'd rather just see a simple pic... I'd hate to loose out on something just to find out a cod was the wrong item and improperly described!

What crap? COD protects BOTH in the sale. Assume the detailed picture was of an item that "looked like" the actual item being sold because the seller didn't have a digital camera. Sure would suck to buy that really cool widget just to find out it had a crack in the same place all the other abused widgets had. COD "could" prevent this.
Caveat Emptor for all items bought/sold on the internet. Deal with a well known board member and you'll probably make out ok. Deal w/ a newb????.... Hell, I am one and frankly I expect folks to question me. PLEASE DO! (Note I have nothing FS.) However, it would be expected. Again, it's just my 2¢ and you'll probably get some change from that! ;)

I know , thats a good idea but when I sale something I treat it like the buyer needs it so I ship it out really fast. This person on the HAMB did the exact samething to Dirty31 and I knew it. I am just waiting for his reasons. I am going to give him a couple of days again than get the HAMB Police on him.

I am fond of this ad (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158890). Has been bumped by the poster for 4 consecutive days.... And he has a total of 9 posts....7 for this one ad.

There are people that abuse the classifieds, but I guess that is why so many people post there, because it is free.....

Not bitchin, just making an observation.

They banned it cause the FNG's didn't have a clue what was meant. Just like I didn't when I got on here. I think if they were BOLD it'd make a difference, cause I never see the ones that aren't bold.
