I'm no expert, but Mr. Bonner is. Call him and see what he thinks about boxing it in and updating it a bit. If you need his number PM me.

What do you want to do with this Tudor?
What will it look like?
Motor?
Brakes?
Suspension?

That will influence what you "need" to do.

Parallel springs front and rear, with a light weight cross member, I'd probably go with a different frame. How's the wood in the body?

I have a '31. At first I thought the parallel leaves were ugly, but they're growing on me... something about form following function... yeah I think I read that somewhere.

PS- Last fall I met a man at Hershey who specializes in 27-29 Chevrolet parts. He seems like an oldtimer who has a barn full of stuff. The business is Teressa Crafts Restorations, his name's Wallace F. Deck, and his # is (217) 247-2162.

I've got a couple of '30 chevys and two '31's and a frame that I'm pretty sure is a '28 or '29. The '28 frame is real flimsy. It's only 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" where the '31 is 2 1/4" x 5" and a lot more solid. They still need a lot of extra bracing and boxing. If you can find a '31 frame it would be a better start if you're putting a V8 in it...and it's longer.

There's a lot of wood in those bodies. Mine are all dry rotted bad...I just replaced the wood with metal in my pickup.

Have fun! It's nice to see more old chevys getting built. Fords are getting scarce and expensive.

I was told that the frames were flimsy and would be better off w/ a model a frame. The wood is GONE,gonna have to build a frame out of steel tubing but the sheetmetal is good and all there. This would be my first hod rod so I think i`m going to take my time and try and do it right( also right after i finish my Caddy, my wifes comet and build a garage)

I 've had 3 model a frames now.. and I have had the good fortune to have seen edmurder's chevy frame first hand..

If I were to choose I'd run the chevy frame.. its ALOT stronger than the stock A frame..

now if your talking about an aftermarket a frame.. thats a different story..

personally I am really glad ed DIDnt change the chevy frame from parallel leafs.. its the first thing I spy when I look at the car and every time I think yeah now thats different...(just like ed! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)

What would be wrong with pulling off the fenders and extra stuff, and just running it with the banger motor for a while?
If it is a runner or has the potential to be one, you might have a lot of fun with it.
Not every car has to be a AV8 clone ya know.
I'd be real happy to run a twenties car on the street.
Check some of the vintage racing and 4 banger sites...

I am having a custom, supersecret(tm), frame made by Industrial Chassis for my 28 Chevy.

There was not much to the stock frame but it would be fine to run around with a banger if you added some juice brakes.

I'm not gonna be much help on this, but i like the parallel leaf spring look...it'll stand out in the sea of tansverse springs! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
