so what is the diffrence from the 49 roadmaster with the straight molding on the side of the car and the 49 roadmaster like the one i have
Wheelbase on a Roadmonster is 126" the rest are 121".
48_HEMI
04-28-2004, 11:53 AM
to add to the good doctor that added wheelbase is all in the front fenders and hood, fire wall back the roadmaster is the same as a super. specials are on a smaller line with pontiac's and chev's http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
and again good score. Can you say "RAINMAN!"

the book i have shows a 49 with the 4 ports and straight line, i am still cunfused did 49 have two raodmasters, the book says in mid 49 they made a new one, any one now what it is worth
It's old, it's probably rare, and judging by your work on your previous vehicles, it's gonna be wild when finished.
Guys, I think he'z trying to decide whether to restore or customize...
If it'z real rare and worth tons restored then it'z worth it...
But if it'll need three partz carz and still only be worth 5 small figurez, maybe not.
I say customize that bitch anyway! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Kustomize that sled!...it would look absolutely bitchin on the floor.......shaved and chopped slightly........I like it.....but then, I have no respect for restored cars.....

I thought the 8 cylinders had 4 ports and the 6's had 3? Is this right Buick guys?

Your thinking about Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles. a Buick 6 is called a GMC truck engine. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That is a cool Buick, good luck, I have one 54 Special, and man does it give me headaches when it breaks.. I just spent $600 for the trans. to get rebuilt, and $240 just to get 4 bushings machined(made) for my u-joint.. But it's all worth it in the long run!!!! Great ride

Been watching this thread. It comes down to a financial decision in my eyes. You'd have to enjoy having empty pockets not to restore a buick like that. Any of you who have ever seen the prices these go for in the restored marketplace should know. $30k is commonplace with a "streetrod" (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2473136321&catego ry=6144&sspagename=WDVW) drivetrain, 40k or more (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/auctionresults/common/cardetail.asp?id=164502) restored. Considering Lordz has the skills to pull it all together at a reasonable restoration cost, Id say go for it. If this thing is an original mileage car with the original jack in the trunk; restore it, flip some coin, and go build something you truly desire. Maybe another Buick just like it. But I think you'd be missing out on a financial opportunity if you chopped it up. You gonna chop a convertible? Why not just buy a hard top and carson it.
Just my 2cents. You could build 2 awesome buick customs with $40k.

Yeah, I think anything should go but the top should stay, and you shouldn't cut the frame...(kinda like the discussion we had on getting my semi-rare '56 Eldorado on the ground with stock wheels and tires)... Although I am starting to think we should do it...

Cheap pieces I guess...
