We made a beautiful ride last weekend when, after like 2 1/2 hours, disaster struck... I broke down, we tried to get the bike running for more than an hour, but it didn't work...

My buddy spotted an old Harley behind some rich dudes' house, we walked into the yard and he borrowed us some tools, but we couldn't find out what was wrong... I was about 15 miles from home.. My buddy pushed me with his Shovelhead for a couple miles, that's when another friend showed up with his truck and he gave me lift home, including the Triumph...

Yesterday we found out what happened...
Somehow, the hex shaped shaft, which connects the magneto to the cam, broke in half!
I had a couple bad kickbacks, when the ignition was too advanced in the beginning. And I "DO" ride the shit out of it (I ride the shit out of everything I have!), but something like this should not happen...
I e-mailed Joe Hunt Magnetos and I hope that they'll ship me a new shaft...

For the time being we'll make a new one from an 3/8" allen wrench!

That really sucks...Joe Hunt should definitely send you a new shaft. A parts failure like that should not happen even if you did have a couple of bad kickbacks.

How's it been running other than that? I know it sounded good in the video...

Hey Bass...

For the rest the bike ran super good... Only thing is, I can't get it to go much faster then 60-65 MPH...

I have been adjusting the ignition and top end got better and better... Next step was to work on fuel and air regulation a bit more, but then that shaft broke...

Lower end torque was great when we advanced the ignition a bit more on our last trip!! In 2nd and 3rd it hauled ass man!!
And... I managed to get the motor comletely leak free!!! Ain't that somethin' on an ol' Trump!

I got a 3/8" allen key today and will make a new shaft asap!

Haven't heard from the guys down at Hunt yet. I'll give 'em a call later...

We're tightening some spokes on my buddies Shovel right now...

BTW... You're bike gonna be in DicE No.2..? I was too late... Didn't make the deadline... Have to wait till No.3

I got an e-mail from Dean...he said that it's not going to fit in #2, but fits perfectly in #3....so I guess we're going to share some space there. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What size sprocket are you running in front? I think I might go to a 20 tooth on mine. It supposedly makes a world of difference.

I had to take a break from my bike for a couple of weeks to work on my Shoebox, but I started back on it this week. The new chain should be here any day, and I hope to be riding it by the weekend. I just need to chase down some leaks and clean the carb out.

I love your bike man...Every time I look at pictures of it, it makes me wish mine was still in bare metal. It looks really awesome that way!

Man I can't remember... 19 or 20... It's kinda difficult to count when it's installed...

I'm happy when I get it to run around 80 or so... Just fast enough for freeway traffic... I'm more a fan of lower end torque, but you have to be able to run with the fellow traffic a little...

BTW... I put the other bars on it... The sportster ones which we kinda de-swept and lowered. Looks good too... A bit more racer style...
