Hi guys,

I like the look of a well done rear roll pan. However it usually means you have to relocate the gas tank on a 32-34 coupe. Has anyone ever combined the two and created a rear roll pan that hid a gas tank? Once I saw an advertisement in a rodding magazine for one, but has anyone ever made one? I'd be interested to some pics of them, and description of how you do it.

While I can't blame you for wanting to simplify your project, putting a gas tank in any car that is not fully protected by a bumper and/or frame rails is not a safe thing to do. Consider what happened to Ford Pinto owners years ago and what's happening now with several cities initiating a class-action suit against Ford because of all the police officers who have been burned alive when the Crown Victorias they were in got rear-ended.

My advice is that you look into buying or building a fuel cell and putting it in the trunk. You can find link to fuel cell manufacturers' sites at http://www.roadsters.com/safety/
