I got a phone call last week from a friend who said he was talkin to a friend of his that had just bought an ol'hot rod roadster. He told me to call him, that he needed some work done on it.
We talked and it turns out he bought this car that I was s'posed to get first crack at.No biggie I have enough projects right now to deal with.
So here it is.It was built in the mid 50s.Has an olds in it with a blower with six 97s on top!
The guy who owns it is putting one of his 409s in it.I just made a deal for the olds stuff.
Its a 31 channeled over 32 rails.Hes gonna unchannel it a few inches to get more room in the car.And tidy up a few other things. He definetly not gonna "over restore" it.This car is called El Toro, won alot of shows back in the 50s and 60s.My dad used to work with the guy who built it.
I'll get more pics of it when I go back to his place.....Shiny http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/558000-558999/558952_34_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/558000-558999/558952_33_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/558000-558999/558952_35_full.jpg

Nice find. Too bad you missed out.
I thought by the title of your post you were gonna show a picture of me. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I really dig it, especially that green... different. Shame about replacing that olds with a chevy, not that 409's aren't interesting... just that a blown olds is even more interesting.

The blower is long gone.It came with the 3x2 setups. The one with the 97s was on the car for years. The mill that was in the car has a cracked block. So with a 'few'409s sittin around whats a guy to do.
The kewl green paint is original from the 50s......Shiny
Has that car been in Canada since built? I remember a car like that from Hot Rod magazine in the late 50's, early 60's - I think it was The B.C. area. Do you have any idea who built it?

the name I think is not uncommon but it sure sounds and looks familiar.
cool score.
so what other Olds stuff did you get? just the manifolds?

The car was built here in Victoria by a guy named Johnny Walker.
I got the 3x2 setups, two complete mills(one is the blower mill) valvetrain pieces outa the blower mill are really nice,a complete standard tranny setup outa the roadster, few sets of valvecovers, dualpoint dizzys etc.....Shiny
Thanks - I'll look for it tomorrow.

Shiny, I tried to buy that car in Nanaimo 6 or 9 years ago. My buddy there turned me on to it. I offered the guy 5 grand for it then. Sure wish I could have got it, but glad to see someone got it that will put it back on the road. It was a neat piece. How is the dual carb manifold coming for the 4 banger? Nutz

pretty cool shiny... i like 409s, but the car survived all this time intact, wouldnt it be proper to leave it the way it was? ......its nice to see cars that havent got "updated "through the years

Are those chrome reversed wheels from back when? They sure look in good shape! Funny when you know somethin' is right. That car's right! Bet the Olds/blower/97-six pack looked killer too!

Nutz, yup thats what I was s'posed to get it for.The guy that owned it before is a lil wacko.
Sideways teardrops,look kill eh.
Hes not gonna really change anything puttin a 409 in it.Hes even gonna put old homemade style motormounts in it.
Those chrome reverse wheels are really nice.Considerin thev've been sittin outside for years.....Shiny

It was a survivor until now. I guess it should've been sold to a shorter guy.
TOO BAD.
I guess that's the way it goes.

randy,he is short. He doesn't want to look like a dog fuckin a football drivin it like most guys do who have channeled cars.
Unchannelin it 2" isn't gonna wreck the car.Neither will the 409.He can always put an olds rockett back in it later.....Shiny

Really nice car. Think I've seen it in an old HR I've got somewhere.
Speaking of Olds...colour is always a hard thing to judge on the computer, but that green looks a LOT like the same "metallic dark olive " (?) on my (old) 68 Olds Cutlass. Think it was only an Olds colour, tho may have seen some Impalas with it too. Dunno the name GM assisgned. - Keith
